This year's sub build is a clone of a commercial tapped horn TH-SPUD
made by Danley Sound labs.

Tapped Horns are the latest and greatest sub technology on the market.
Made commercially popular by Tom Danley, inventor of the DIY Labhorn.

This is a large box, 48x45x11 meant for home theater
using a pair of Tang-Band 8" W8-740's.

Claims are impressive for a pair of 8's, flat down to 17hz, shaking walls.

More pics as built.

The plans somehow were leaked so a few people have built them.

been playing this thing last couple days,
real tight, fast, deep bass
none of that lingering boominess you hear from a mile away of poorly designed boxes

more importantly the bass is there on an is required basis
absolutely no need for it to be cranked up to know that it is there

i need to get a proper setup, I am running a split off my tube preamp
into a car eq to get the sub line out and using a single channel off it
looking to get a summed output mono plate amp

my other speakers are large fullrange horns which themselves project a large soundfront and require something efficient to keep up with them.

one thing i have discovered with this is that my pc soundcard is rolling off the lowend bigtime

most people would have heard a harley motorbike by now
try playing this recording from the danley site
burn it on a cd, there is a train file there also which can give the feeling of an airplane flying over
