Feel free to post

i'm a little confused because i have seen this recommendation in two manuals

( Only use an API Service SF or SG
grade motor oil with a viscosity of
SAE 10W-30 or 10W-40.
The transmission should be drained
and refilled with new oil every 24
months or 48,000 km (30,000 miles),
whichever comes first. Shorten the
service interval to every 12 months
or 24,000 km (15,000 miles) under
severe driving conditions )

I know this is for the engine.

An oil with a viscosity of 5W-30 is
preferred for improved fuel economy
and year-round protection in your
Honda. You may use a 10W-30 oil if
the temperature in your area never
goes below 20C F (— 7C C).

Recommended Oil
Oil is a major contributor to your
engine's performance and longevity.
Always use a premium-grade detergent
oil.
You can determine an oil's SAE
viscosity and Service Classification
from the API Service label on the oil
container.
A fuel-efficient oil is recommended
for your Honda. This is shown on the
API Service label by the words
"Energy Conserving I I . " This oil is
formulated

so why'd they make MTF? Rolling Eyes

i think there's some equivalence/conversion of MTF -> motor oil

i'm not sure..open to correction

if you're that set in your ways then why post asking for advice? Rolling Eyes

ok,np

don't use sae 90,you'll fack up your synchros

use honda genuine MTF or if you're into performance, use redline/amsoil or one of them good brands

as i said,i believe the 10w30 oil is an equivalent specification of some sort (somebody explain, please) and i know it was used in older gearboxes

the gearbox spec is a GL4 oil, 75w-90/75w-85

redline is available and has worked well in many apps

redline has a mt90 and a mtl and a mix may be required
