The engine is a good platform, lots of power when lift kicks in but a bit slow off the line (probably because I have an automatic, the manual version should be faster off the line). A supercharger will make the world of difference but you have to be very careful with FI due to high compression ratio of 11.5.1. You can only put about 4-6 lb of boost on the stock engine or you will send the pistons flying out the bonnet.
As for performance parts,… well that’s just stress, for one its EXPENSIVE man it’s really expensive and plus it’s not very easy to find used like all those Nissan SR20 ‘s, not that ill want to put used performance parts on my car. Plus if you mess-up anything in the engine you will have to order from Japan or may be the states because you are not finding any major parts local not even TTL.
So I’m guessing you are either interested in buying a car with one or doing a swap, either way good luck in finding one, nevertheless the car will definitely be good fun to drive around. |

| Thank you very much for the reply. I am looking at a potential swap, however, having some second thoughts now. |

I don;t think the swap is the problem here eh. Just modifying it and if something goes wrong. as comutech says. The engine is fairly rare and only going to become rarer as the 2007 corolla not going to come in an application with the 2zz-ge.
There are some rare performance modifications but they cost an arm and a leg....like the crower cam kits.
Still, hell of a plant to get...good luck booge |

2zz-ge appears in three cars only:
1. toyota runx aero z
2. toyota feilder aero z
3. lotus elise
the engine puts out 180hp stock and is high comp as said above. it is the successor to the 4AGE. as such, it is a high revving, highly tuned motor with high compression.
in the US, the runx is sold as the toyota matrix and hence, parts are swappable. some motor sport magazine had one as a project car and (kinda) successfully turbo'd it.
other performance parts may be available in the USA. |

| Parts are not hard to find out the states. The aftermarket has increased and is still increasing. I have not had the chance to run a DC5 but the numbers are similar. I doubt a DC5 will beat a RUNX that badly if at all, but then again the DC5 has lsd so it will move off alot better so maybe a rolling run, but i realy dno. Both the 2zz and the K20 are monsters. |

| the k20 puts out 210hp while the 2zz dishes out 190 or 180 depending on the area of export, at the wheels i dont know the hp figures though, the dc5 is lighter as well so the dc5 will be head on a stock for stock run, the 2zz is still a beyotch of an engine though!!! |

| I went and check, the R is 220 hp and 1180 kg the 01 runx is 1140 and 189 hp so i feel the R might take it but still i feel we should do a run for run and see. |
