|
|
A couple times - I turn the key to start - but nothing. Had to turn it a couple times before it actually tumble. Now there is a relay connected between the gearbox (nuetral wire) and the starter (to prevent accidental remote start if in gear).
1. Could it be the relay is sticking, or the starter going?
2. If I replace / bypass the relay, and the problem still persists, could you clearly say that it is the started faulty?
3. What about "jumpering" the starter the next time the problem occurs? How is this done?
Thanks. |

I'm getting the same problem. When I turn the key, I hear a single click but no tumble. It's not the battery and it can't be the neutral switch because I'm manual.
After I hold the key a couple seconds or sometimes just a half second longer than usual, it starts.. |

you need to work backward from the starter. the first thing to do is "jumper" the starter. it is done to eliminate the starter firstly. there is a wire that goes to the static.(the thinner wire of the 2 wires that goes to the starter)
HOW IT"S DONE? you need to tap the thinner wire with another piece of wire. and let someone try tumbling the car. if it doesn't make sure thy are holding the key on the start position. jumper the wire you've connected to the starter to the battery +ve pole if it starts to tumble then check your relay, neutral switch, wires for cuts and slack connection ( on the starter too) and finally your capsule |

Some times I turn the key once and it starts... Other times I turn the key once and the starter would just click!
Starter?
Is it better to refurbish ur starter or change it? Why? |

| try hot wireing at the starter, just place a screw driver on the positive terminal at the starter and ground off on the other terminal next to the positive,be carefull for sparks, then if car stsrts it may be the switch,if it only making a clicking sound may be the solidenoid, these problems are best retified by an auto electrican, best bet |

that same thing happened to my friend's car,
sometimes when he turned the key, it would start, other times he would hear a click alone...he had to keep playing with the switch till it started...it turned out that the contacts in the static was worn,
went to the electrician and he took out one from an old starter, cleaned it up, and he was back in the game |

Careful how you using them terms. We know what you mean but grounding off is something different. Doh go grounding off no +ve terminal. |
