I don't have a good zoom lens at the moment so I left most of the runs for video.

As you can see Aaron jumped the tree...nonetheless it was impressive to see him beat that bike.

Nice pics, but I think that on a lot of them, the actual shot is just.. off.
Also, i think the effects maybe a bit overdone on some.. but nice nonetheless

All points taken. I'm new to photography so still experimenting,trying to find my own style.i have a lot more respect for the guys that cover motorsports having tried my hand at it. Distance,direction, balance,positioning, mode settings and equipment all play their part. You can always clean up/enhance a shot in post production, but starting off with a really good raw image and working from there always produces the best result. This is where experience comes in to play; knowing the little ideosyncrasies that make the difference.

Also there's the question of how much to tweak. Should I leave this one alone or try a ting? It already looks nice but maybe this will add another dimension to it. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. What I like isn't always going to agree with everyone. At the same time experimentation helps us to learn, improve. Only thing that sucks is when you look back at old stuff you used to be proud of, you realize how shitty it looked/how far you've come.

You ever saw an old pic of yourself when d style was different and wonder to yourself WTF was I thinking wearing that... :lol:

I liked your pics, but the artistry was a bit over-done IMHO
What I mean is, I want to see action shots, not glam shots...I want to see the cars lining up, launching etc.
Glam shots (use of different angles, taking pics of emblems at interesting angles etc) are good for photo-shoots. However when you take those kind of shots at actual racing events, you tend to frustrate the viewer.
That's my honest contribution to your thread. I prefer not to lie to you.

First pass was a comfortable mid 11's ( someone post the exact time )

Second pass was a comfortable 10.9

Third pass I have no clue cause I didn't see it :twisted:

To be honest these are my sentiments as well, and I felt the frustration of not getting the action shots, even the angles robbed me of viewing the entire car, which diminishes my appreciation of the scene. That being said I applaud your efforts and remain cognisant of you continued search for your style, both of which are commendable, keep at it, and continue to post great shots

Ways, i actually agree with HUTRINI :lol:

Nice effort Pat, but i think the DOF is overdone for launch shots and actual racing. Others may disagree with me because i even see those posted on our event pages sometimes...rather than seeing BOTH cars racing together, you tend to see a close up of one car...fine for burnouts and pit shots, but imho, i prefer to see a shot both cars during a race...perhaps with the aperture settings bumped up so you get a blurred background only, and perhaps the other car blurred. I'll post up a couple of my shots from the last event in a minute to show you what i prefer (and not necessarily anyone else)

Yea, agreed with the effects... a few of the pics looked great with it... some were not what you'd wanna see...mostly glam shots and many of us want to see money shots :lol:

... but don't take on the the comments too much tho Mutt... you did a decent job and are experimenting with a style... I am sure you have plenty more pics than what what u posted.
