What Is Solodex?
Solodex is a timed automotive event held on a paved, flat surface through a course defined by traffic pylons. The event emphasizes car handling skills and stringent safety measures are upheld to safeguard car, driver and spectator alike. Drivers vie for class and overall prizes by negotiating the course one car at a time in a class of similar cars. The goals are to improve car handling skills and to develop a heightened respect for automotive safety and responsibility in T&T, while having loads of fun.
The course normally ends with the driver coming to a complete stop in a Finishing Box at least 50 feet after the Finish Line. Each run is timed separately and drivers have a minimum of three runs of the course. For each cone penalty, 2 seconds is added to the run time, which is done to al least one hundredths of a second.
Novices:
Newcomers to SoloDex competition (Rookies) will be placed in the Novice (NE) class until they have competed in 6 SoloDex events or won two events in the NE class, whichever comes first. Championship points will be accumulated towards the Rookie championship, however, Rookies who are transferred mid season, will have their championship points recalculated based on their times relative to those of the class they are transferred into.
Classes:
There will be 7 classes of competition in the 2k6 series NE, GS, HS, ES, ESP, SS, EP. Except in the NE class, cars with modifications that significantly improve the car’s performance potential over the standard for the class will be placed in the next higher class. R compound tyres and slicks are allowed without penalty in all classes except NE. Consideration will be given to NE competitors based on the car and driver’s experience on a case by case basis.
