3D WIP|Evolution VI - Updates...

Postby R. Mutt » October 4th, 2006, 4:26 am

Started a new project. These renders don't really show it, but there are some flaws with the wire mesh. I have since started over from scratch since the issues were unsolvable due to an overly abundant poly count. :headbang:
HDR Lighting was used to accomplish the realistic reflections on the surface.

ImageImageImage

Here are some earlier screen shots of the wire frame before the model was subdivided and creased. You can see how subdividing the number of polygons helps to smoothen out everything, making it look more like the real thing.

ImageImageImage

Progress is moving a lot faster than the Ferrari. I've spent about 4 hours modelling so far and finished the hood, front fender, front door, rear door and rear fender. The hood in particular took a while because there's only one hood scoop on the left side. So when I duplicated the wire mesh onto the opposite axis, I had to fill the hole and clean up the mesh. I can't wait to finish the body and get to all the details of the interior. :wiggle:

I'm thinking Honda after this...probably a JDM Tuned EG6 SiR as I love the shape of that car and it'll make a clean, simple 3D model.

EDIT:

Here's are sample of the official MMC colour options for the VI and VI TME:

I couldn't get any high res reference pics of the side mirrors...so I had to ratch that. Where the mirror meets the triangle is a little problem area I'll fix once I get some good pics of how it looks. This time I rendered the chassis blue so you get a better idea of the lines. I think everything else is good so far. If anyone see stuff wrong let me know, so I can make the adjustments.

The Icelle blue on the colour chart looks much different to the actual car you posted, and more like Autosport's own. From the chart I chose Canal blue, and the pic looks good, so my choice would be Canal blue

Actually, I didn't use any caustics....just HDR lighting and MR Metalic Car Paint Shader. Pure final gather, no global illumination; helps with render times as well.

Yea...lost my train of thought...I think you should do something original like an old school VR4. If you feeling to be brave an very different do a Mercedes Benz 560 SEC AMG.....or the 190E Evolution.

You should have "Other" as an option too... I prefer "custom" colours.

What about "Metalic White"... (Yup, "Metalic White"... Mica, not aluminium flakes.)
... or "Pearl White" as a second choice... You'll see eventually.

I got to Polytechnic University in New York. But if you really want to get into this stuff check Scientist Uni: Full Sail. Another great place is Vancouver Film School....toppa toppa imo.

Metalic white...sounds interesting. Post some pics if you've got.

DAMN! :shocked!: Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' 'bout. Metallic white is even better.
I'll see if I can find any pix of metallic white... VERY rare though.
The Evo will wear one or the other, one of these days.
