tell him to go with the B14 engine.

then class his car with all the other mix and match brands out there.
them skoda cars
the 306
accents
matrix
and the list can go on and on

stick to you brand there is an engine out there for that car you just have to look.

5AFE is 1.5... Sure most parts places will have.. bamboo, or down penal

price not sure what they go for since i never bought own.. but should not be more than 5500 i think..

goodluck.. make sure and inspect the condition of it and enquire about the complete package with mounts, tranny, etc

this IS a very nice deal....since this engine/tranny combo is selling for around the same thing, if u could have a little extra juice to squeeze when u want it, I'd go for the 20V....he don't need to go pelting all over the place in it, just keep it well-maintained like any other engine and he'd be good to go

the only small issue really may be the availability of parts (not anywhere and everywhere has 20V parts), but he has enough support here on the forums to get stuff when he needs it

its manual and it cost just over 5k. but that cost can differ from mechanic to mechanic.

thanks ppl...

will look into ^these both options...

i knw the 20V is a hell of a engine, but at the same time, he dont want to be hurting his head when repair time comes...

but the 4A-FE looking like a good deal also

theres also the 7afe which kinda cheap these days from what i've heard and its a 1.8
last price was $3500 complete b4 nego.
20v are expensive and some parts hard to find so u end up buying engines and wanting to try and get more speed. The record for mashing up a 20v engine after an install is 2 days.

I would tell you go with the 5afe ...... i have a corolla with 4afe and the 20v sport tranny and it was great ...... only thing was everyone only stocking 5afe parts so to find a distributor or water pump or certain sensors for the 4afe are alittle harder as the pin configurations on the 4a harness are different.
