ahh what the heck..

Audiopipe!

they have subs to meet every budget and need!

their TS line is extremely affordable and decent performers..

the TXX series is for those who want to make some noise..

they have dedicated SPL subs that do perform!

they also have a new SQ line (but i have no personal experience with those..)

they also have some pretty hott poster girls as well.. Mr. Green

"Best all round SUBWOOFER" i say has to go to TREO IMO...they cater for the small budget ppl as well as the heavy gunners....and their prices are good too...definately a brand to mention....

even the SSX has a very smooth roll off for a 2500rms sub Mr. Green

I guess the first question to ask is what entails an all round sub...

In my view its a sub that.
1. Does not require a refrigerator size enclosure
2. Is efficient enough to not need 1000watts rms to reach a decent sound level.
3. Not a one note wonder, must have a decent low range extension.
4. Must be well built to handle the environment of a car.

The sub that is available and fits all these criteria is the JL Audio W3 line...

Also the Orion XTR subs, and the image dynamics IDQ subs were good allround subs but they not around anymore (never used the newer models)

A list of the subs I have used are

Orion XTR3 10"
Orion 2NT 10"
Orion C series 12"
Orion Cobalt 10" (new model)
Image Dynamics ID MAX 12"
Image Dynamics IDQ 12"
JL Audio 12 W6 V2
JL Audio 10 W6 V1
JL Audio 10 W6 V2
JL Audio 10 W1 V2
JL AUdio 12 W0 V1
JL Audio 12 W3 V3
OZ Audio ME 10
Phoenix Gold Xenon 12"

And from the old days.... pyle driver 10" and 12", Sound barrier 12", Pioneer 12"

i think this thread gone down de wrong road...

i'm assuming what richie was trying to say is that MTX as a brand has never put out a failed product.....from the old road thunder and black golds to the new TS and TR lines MTX has always stood out as a dependable and reliable brand with great products.

the best all round sub i've used thus far is the rexxx 04\05 model because
1 it didnot require a over size box
2 it was efficient
3 played a wide range of frequencies with some crazy low end extension
4 cosmetically was very appealing

other subs are
image dynamics id max
dls ur12
alpine type r (i'm very impressed with this sub an it is relatively cheap)
image dynamics idq(the new ones look way better than the older ones)
jlw6v2( this is by far the best sounding sub in the whole jl line)

Then on that basis you should develop your own brand?
