Wanna knw what difference in horsepower gains can i get from a drop in K &N panel filter with the OE a/f housing as compared to a short ram induction with a cone type filter...or is there any difference?

thanks

Drop in K&N will give you better HP vs stock cardbard crap

but a badly built/thought out short air ram can decrease HP even if it looks and sounds like the sheit.

at most 2-3 HP if you lucky with a good set-up...

Dude you worry about which filter will last longer Confused , you have to be out of your mind. did you not see the video?
The K&N filter will allow more air than the OEM filter yes and will last longer because you can probably wash it and put it back, but it also allows alot of dust in the motor as well, which in turn destroy your motor.

And the performance is the same with all the filters, non is better than the other in terms of performance.

So you worry about the longlife of the filter for your car, you will be happy.
good luck to you man.

Lets look objectively at the video and analysed the results carefully and not be confused by what we saw in the video. This is a marketing hype used by advertisers and not scientific evidence. Always be skepctical whenever a product is tested by the manufacturer and especially when tested against other products, even if they say it was an independent test without stating who conducted such test.
The test was flawed. Now you may be wondering , I saw the video, what are you speaking about. Well firstly, no one was invited to represent the the makers of the other products, which is standard for any comparison product test. Secondly they say a leading brand without naming the brand. Why? Because they want you to believe that is was a K&N air filter. Thirdly, when they put the paper airfilter to test, they did not say OEM filter, but wants you to believe that it is an OEM filter. We all know that a K&N filter needs oiling, however whatever filter was used was taken straight from the box and tested without being oiled. Fourthly, the dust that was sprinkled on top the filter would have also gotten in the atmosphere as well, and because the filter that was choosen is pleeted, dust would pass between the filter and the surface it rested upon and show the filter as being ineffective. Fiftly, the faom filter would have form a proper seal over the surface it was tested upon and being new, would collect the dust for that short period of time of the test being carried out. Finally, they said that with the complete pipe system you get gains in horsepower, on the dynmo howerver they did not show us that test. On the other hand all other high flow system has showed gains on the dynmo test so this is not exclusive to foam.

I will tell you that you are totally wrong because myself and others here in florida did the same test with different filters and saw the same results and we have tried from 100 cfm air machines to shop Vacuum's to be a little more getto in the testing and saw the same results as they saw in the video.

Now i don't market these items nor do i work for the company, but I do alot of beta testing with some other friends where we put money together and buy the items and test them, then we make notes of these items and report them to the manufactors if we think they can update/modified them. We do have access to a machine shop and other labs to do these types of testing with getto and proper equipment, as a result if they past the testing as the manufactor specs as they say, we do get a discount on the item for our personal cars. I have been beta testing for almost 12 years in the automotive industry now for all performance parts and OEM parts in Nissan, Honda, Mazda, Ford and Toyota. I have started this in Trinidad and started to do this in New York and now in Florida. So I will tell you is that I have the experience for years and not just watching a video.

I am really happy to know that someone actually did the test themself and got similar results. My piont however, is that most advertisements are hypes and that we must be careful not to take their word for Gospel, without putting it to the acid test. Thanks again for your interested in the subject and clearing up this matter. Please continue to share you knowledge with us and update us with your other test results which you have conducted over the past twelve years.
