when you say running you mean while in traffic or while driving like 20 km etc

does your car have a leak like a radiator hose leaking etc

you have a ga15de --- in what vehicle

is the step up unit working etc

I was now gonna ask about the step-up/idle-up unit...make sure it's operational and make sure there are no vacuum leaks

for the radiator, check the cap, hoses and the rad itself for leaks

so does it overheat when the a/c is on?

also, does the radiator fan come one even tho the a/c is on?

lol the solution might be much cheaper and less labour intensive than changing a head gasket inno

did u inspect your entire cooling system (hoses, water pump, thermostat housing, end caps and radiator) for leaks?

check on fan belt,if the cylinder head gasket blew there will be water in the engine oil,it will get the oil white, the radiator will have oil in and around the top of the cover,as hook is saying,,, inspect the entire system while engine is running with the ac on,good advise he is giving Wink

Not necessarily the cyl head gasket if there is no water loss at all when the A/C is off. It does not have to be so bad.

If the A/C fan is not working or the system is building too much pressure due to an old dryer bottle or bad thermostat etc, it would put additional force on the engine and cause overheating and the reservoir bottle would expel water so you'd loose water.

Obviously if the engine overheats considerably or repeatedly you will damage your cylinder head gasket sometimes so slight your car would seem to work like normal under light loads. So check it properly in steps and and quickly because it can cost you an entire engine.

If you observe what brams112 said with water and oil mixing or if you start your car with the engine cold and radiator cover open and you see a lot of bubbles/froth or water jumping out, or a miss on the idle, then you'd know if you got a blown gasket as well. You can start your engine rebuild and ensure that what caused your overheating is resolved.
