Hey jus an update...i built this box using my B&D circ saw...

I plan to make another one, i'll get build pics from that one...gonna be sealed

Home made flared 3" PVC ports Laughing

Whipped out the porter cable orbital sander and rounded the edges so it won't tear the carpet - no i don't have a router so i used a sander.

I installed the ports after i carpetted, hence i got contact cement onto the carpet which looks messy, any idea how to get it off?

I might sell this box as it's tooo huge, can't fit a cooler Crying or Very sad

Dunno if this one would help...

The wall you're seeing is actually the bottom of the box...hence the carpet line...ended up facing dem up cuz i find they were too close too the tailgate...

Well i had a 3" precision port...i need two so i decided not to use it...

So i heated the PVC over a stove and push it onto de inner flare from the PP...held it there till it got a lil cool and started to harden again

Then sand it down n paint it cuz it will develop some cracks around the edges

I see Gopaul Lands hardware have a skil for $740 and Bhags have a B&D for $870

Both kinda "big"....was lookin for something small n neat

by bhags should have a 2hp B&D which i also own - works alright though it can be made a bit nicer

but i rather use a jigsaw to cut out speaker holes - time it takes to set up a cutout jig i would have already cut out d hole ...invest in a good heavy duty jigsaw (like my dewalt) & good blades (like those from lennox) which makes d work easy .....

Well reason i want a router is to do "rabitting" for fiberglass pods for speakers

But that B&D looks so huge for no reason Neutral

Is a rotozip any good?...could it do the same a router does?

yeh d B&D kinda big\bulky

never used d rotozip b4 but i find its looking kinda too 'light duty' though i could be wrong - u cud buy a small mini router\laminate trimmer ...

I have ah rotozip with all d attachments and other trinkets. imo it lacks power but its good for small projects.

Pioneer, the most common pro level small router is the Porter Cable 690
they also make a kit which can turn it into a plung router, the 690 has been around a very long time and is still the standard for small routers
routers are good tools, if you have the bushings you can make templates so the speaker is countersunk flush with the surface

for jigsaws the bosch progressor is the standard
toolless blade release and their blades last a very long time

You can make a good straight edge by laminating a pair of 1x4 dressed good quality lats, screwing them together and then taking them to a woodshop with a planer machine to straighten the edges, if they are properly glued/screwed they will not warp

Its not hard to build a makeshift tablesaw either, I have seen many carpenters bolt on a circular saw underneath to a 4x4 sheet of ply and make a fence to rip big sheets
the saw has to be parallel to the fence though otherwise the blade will bind

btw dewalt owns b&d or the other way around, they have both the pro and home market

ne body seen either SP120 or 175 on this link?...how much u guys think it will cost to bring in one of those?...i used the 175 today and thats the sweetest solder iron i ever used..

also for a heat gun..which u all recommend?..what brand and model, and where sells them?...i know someone told me about a ace hardware brand for 250?
