CVT

For the CVT's, the change interval should be manufacturer recomended.

The hondas or Mitsu are probably 20k. I do not know

The RE0F06 nissan tranny found in the Primera (P11 & 12), Bluebird, Wingroad, B15, Prarie etc has a change interval of 60 000 km. Recomended fluid is NS-1 or equivalent.

The RE0F09 found in the Xtrail and murano will tell u when it is time to change the fluid via the ECU. Recomended fluid is NS-2 or equivalent. Initially when this tranny was built the idea was to have a fluid that would never need changing.

There is another model of CVT used by nissan in the march, cube and tilda I have no knowlege or experience with this type. I am sure the manual covers it sufficiently.

Powersteering

Most PS fluids recomended by the various car manufacturers is Dextron III, which is your typical average transmission fluid. You should always consult the manual for your particular vehicle to verify the type of PS fluid required. If the PS fluid recomended is Dextron III then use a synthetic tranny fluid.

It is ok to put a percentage of engine oil in the PS fluid (up to 20%). The properties of the oil used in PS systems include: high detergent and anti-foaming, in particular the anti-foaming property is low in engine oils and the detergent ability of the oil varies from manufacturer to manufacturer but is always less than PS fluid or transmission fluid. Foaming of the PS fluid will cause air inclusion in the hydraulic system and result in problems because air is compressable. You would usually only want to put engine oil in the PS system if u have worn parts and/or a slightly noisy PS pump.

You did not cover the oil Shearing beasts that are Evo's, 1-6 all the sites I visited reccomend oil changes with Synthetic oil atleast evey 5000Km.

I change min every 3500Km, due to the age of the car, and try to get the oil analysis done every other oil change, this is a service I get from Texaco.

Here is what the Italians say about Evos.
