scosche efx also had a good line but i dont think electromania brings it any more

its easy to tell

just look at the thichness of the wire inside the insulation and check the flexibility of the cable
the more flexible it is most of the time the more strands the cable has

Nigel, isn't that the other brand of optical cable that was being sold by RadioShack online? Why didn't you just get rave to bring an optical cable in for you?

Big 3 with 4g or 0g wire ? ...

was discussing this & wanted to get more views

would it be a credible difference using 0g instead of 4g wire to do big 3 ???

is 0g overkill because d distance is only about 4ft from alt to batt or will depnd on how powerful ur amps are ??? ........ Confused

This is my view also,

I believe Guage Selection is a function of, Current Draw and distance, for Big3's 4Guage is enough in MOST Daily cases.

especially in trinidad when everybody want to run stock alts, even the big ones in carshows.

yeah, if the price of copper is on the increase everyday, and you see prices remaining the same, look out, its either you getting short changed on your wire, or thats a mighty fine Company whose willing to take a big hit for its customers.

Ok now I have to do my big3 but Ive come across some "problems" so to say.

I wanna use 0awg to eliminate any possible bottlenecks within the charging system but Ive read some stuff like this

Quote:

The biggest problem with output studs melting is actually the connector that you use. 99% of all 1/0 crimp-on cable ends have a 8mm hole in them. When you use a 8mm hole on a 6mm stud, the contact surface area is GREATLY reduced. This creates a restriction in current flow, and subsequently a hot spot that can burn up.

And this is comming from reliable ppl.

So the question that comes to my mind is should I get 4awg wire? I dont want to cause I have a lot of 0awg sitting around.

I have a stock alt btw..

might as well put d 0 so u wont have to worry about upgrading it in d future

let me ask a ? here :

for serious SPL vehicles , is doing a even bigger wire from d ho alt to engine batt from 0g to a 2\0 or 3\0 going to make even any slight voltage or current transfer improvements , even a 0.1 or 0.2v difference ???? .... Confused

Depending on current draw and the battery bank you suppling I guess.

But most fart box applications Ive seen they bypass the factory batt and go straight to the back battery bank with multiple runs of wire.

^ How often do you use 0awg on stock alternators?

kurpal_v2, what do you mean by failure? of what?

If you using zero gauge and have a problem with the small hole on the crimp end then get a drill, lock the end in a table vise and bore it out. I did this many times.
