Hi guys, i have another issue i want to see if anyone on here can help me with. Ok i recently changed my oil and am running amsoil. Now prior to changing the oil, i always smelt a sort of burny kinda smell coming from the engine i think. Like if i in traffic and thing i would smell it. I thought is ma clutch from riding, but now i change oil and i put in ma amsoil.
I smell the amsoil before, so i know how it smells. Now when i idling and sitting in the car i getting the sweet scent of the amsoil that has replaced the old scent. The car has no oil leaks, nor does it burn/consume oil. It works perfect, i just wanted to see if anyone could explain to me whats happening here ??? |

does your crankcase vent to atmosphere?
via small K&N filter for example. |

| I get that also...but only for the first drive....thought maybe it is any residue oil that's caught in the bay...or maybe around the filter... |

| na boy i don't think it is that, i changed to a brand new filter as well with last oil change. Anyone else cud say why this happening, note the car is NOT leaking or burning oil. |

stock airbox and filter too?
hose from pcv vale to airbox / pipe properly secured?
other than that, sure you didn't spill any in the bay?
or wipe some excess with a rag, or on a surface somewehre in the vehicle. |

| Fellas, i not seein anywhere leaking. And the way that smells if it were leaking i would see the evidence on my dipstick. I check all the time and the oil is right up to the mark and does not move. |

| If the smell is mixed with the smell of hot rubber, usually means there's a coolant leak, or a problem with the cooling system. |

pull the hose going to your cold air intake from the valve cover and smell in there most probably oil just going in there and burning off and you smell it. see if you CAI has a leak on any of the rubber couplings holding it together and check the cone filter to see if it is getting oil on it.
sounds like it just might be the blow by going into the intake that you smell.
remember the aluminum gets hot (and cools) quicker than plastic so you will smell the oil there might even be some burnt oil residue in the pipe |
