Flutter: Send MMS's from your iPhone for free
iTunes App Store Download Link
Flutter is an iPhone App developed by JuiceCaster that lets you send a picture message to any mobile number in your iPhone's address book.
In addition, if you have an iPhone 3G, you can also attach your location (geo-tag) to your message.
You need to first register which is free.
After you have logged in, you can compose a message and attach an existing picture from your iPhone's camera roll or even take a picture from the app using iPhone's camera.
You can then send the picture message to recipients directly from your iPhone's address book.
Flutter doesn’t send the picture message directly from your iPhone, the iPhone app actually uploads your message to its servers and then sends an SMS to the recipient with a link to view your picture, so it can be viewed in a mobile browser. So for an iPhone user the cost of sending the picture message is nothing as Flutter is a free iPhone app and the cost of the SMS is incurred by JuiceCaster.
Flutter currently does not support the ability to receive picture messages which would have been ideal, however they have mentioned on their blog that if there's enough demand for the feature, they will think of adding the feature in a future release.
You can checkout the screen shots of Flutter below:
I personally don't care/use MMS too much so it doesn't matter to me so much. But if there is a way for someone to get 1 for free in the rare instance I may need it, then why not?

The Apple iConsole?
Apple is making some strides into the gaming arena with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the App Store, but could they be planning a bigger entry into the console market? After all, Microsoft did it with the original Xbox and they have definitely been successful in establishing a strong brand. Is Apple next?
Don Reisinger from CNET took a look at the possibility and brings up a few good points. Most notably, that Apple "could make a splash in the video game business (and why it possibly will) is because it commands the kind of hype and respect that no other company in the space does."
Apple hype is legendary with die hard fans buying new revisions of every product and lining up for days to be the first one with an iPhone. Could this translate into a gaming business?
If you recall, Apple claimed that the iPod Touch was the best portable gaming device at their recent "Let's Rock" event. That's quite a challenge to the DS and PSP and most people tend to agree that the iPod Touch doesn't compare to Nintendo or Sony's offerings as far as gaming goes.
Apple, as a hardware company, could benefit from having another piece of hardware in the household. Would developers follow? Historically, Apple and game developers don't exactly get along, but they have been bringing more and more games to OSX at the same time as the PC versions release.
Eventually, Apple has to get tired of letting Microsoft have the Xbox 360, right? Can you imagine the Apple Console vs. Xbox 360 commercials? They will be so glorious.
Do you think Apple will ever get into the console business? We aren't too sure, but we also aren't too sure about when Apple is going to stop entering new markets.
(That would be awesome should Apple enter video gaming. I can see the iPhone wirelessly becoming your controller lol)

if anybody got their iphone accidentally updated to 2.0 the procedure to downgrade it back to 1.1.4 is fairly simple
1 - uninstall itunes and use an older version like 7.6, 7.7
2 - put it in dfu mode and restore with the 1.1.4 firmware file
3 - do it again
4 - use the kiremk patched ziphone to downgrade the baseband
5 - unlock with iplus or whatever |

zscrugby no message received. I think its specific smart, (internet enabled) phones like the iPhone, Blackberrys etc that could receive those kinda MMS's.
foss
1. To work for Trinidad & Tobago, yes it would need to be unlocked.
2. Not sure about resellers in the US. eBay perhaps, but they are no longer produced & as a result not as easily available in a reputable retailer e.g. Best Buy or Apple Store. |

as noted before AT&T has said that they will be releasing the iPhone contract free sometime later on.
| MSNBC on July 1, 2008 wrote: |
NEW YORK - AT&T Inc. will sell the new version of the iPhone without a service contract for $400 more than the price with a two-year plan, a break from the rules set when Apple Inc.'s popular touch-screen gadget debuted last year.
Two new models of iPhones go on sale July 11 for $199 and $299, depending on the amount of memory, with two-year AT&T contracts. The contract-free versions will cost $599 and $699 and will be sold sometime "in the future," AT&T said.
The phones sold under contract are subsidized by AT&T, which expects to make the money back through monthly service fees over the life of the contract.
Without a contract, users can cancel service without incurring an early termination fee. But both contract and contract-free phones will be "locked" to work only on AT&T's network, and the monthly service plans available will be the same, said AT&T spokesman Michael Coe. The plans add a $30 monthly charge for data like e-mail and Web surfing on top of a calling plan.
As previously announced, the cheapest monthly calling plan for the iPhone will cost $70 per month, before taxes and fees that can add $10 per month. That plan includes 450 minutes of calls and unlimited e-mail and Web browsing.
AT&T is working on providing a prepaid plan, Coe said. A prepaid option was available to buyers of the first iPhone who failed a credit check.
The new iPhones will have faster data access and more accurate navigation capabilities. The cheaper model will have 8 gigabytes for internal memory, half that of the more expensive model.
The first version of the iPhone was sold in the U.S. without a contract, but AT&T would activate it only with a two-year contract. Many phones ended up being "unlocked" from AT&T's network and shipped overseas.
Also Tuesday, AT&T revealed that the iPhones will go on sale at 8 a.m. local time on July 11. Last year's iPhone launch, which happened in the evening, had Apple devotees camping outside stores in anticipation. |

as far as online, the original iPhone was able to be ordered online via Apple's Online Store. With the 3G however, no online ordering. The closest alternative to ordering online is eBay. (That I know of). Some people are selling it locally but their prices are in that $4000 range new. Some others are selling used for $2800ish. |

An unannounced 4GB 4G iPod nano has been spotted in European stores according to an Engadget report.
According to two separate tipsters (with two sets of photos) Apple has released a third version of the new multi-hued iPod nano to the world -- a 4GB model.
Apparently, Apple "made a limited number of 4GB iPod nanos for some international markets, but this is not one of our main configurations."

Sources inside Apple report a possible future contract free, home activation option and model refresh for iPhone 3G, according to AppleInsider.
When the 2G iPhone first launched Apple used a home activation process which allowed users to activate using iTunes on their home computer. Unfortunately, this has changed for the new 3G iPhone since the phone is now heavily subsidized by AT&T and they want to ensure purchasers sign the carrier's 2 year contract.
It seems as though this process may soon be changed. Apple Store retail employees have reported a new "Home" option appearing on their EasyPay systems when making an iPhone 3G sale.
Previously, the options presented were:
1. Upgrade/Swap existing Phone
2. New to AT&T starting a single line
3. New to AT&T starting a family line
4. Add a line to existing account
The new fifth option for home activation isn't yet working; clicking it will reportedly result in an EasyPay crash.
It is possible that the introduction of home activation and a new unlocked price may come via a product refresh. Last year, Apple dropped the 4GB iPhone model in September and added a new 16GB model in February 2008.
Retail sources are now reporting inventory shortages of the 8GB iPhone 3G, which might signal its cancellation and hopefully an introduction of a 32GB model to match the iPod touch |
