I changed out my ZM-DE for a ZL-VE a couple months ago, so I have the complete ZM-DE engine sitting in a corner. I saw on a couple forums where ppl were talking about putting on the Intake Manifold from the
ZM-DE to the ZL-VE.

This is what the Manifold I have looks like:

Has anyone ever done this swap locally?

In your opinion, was there any sort of performance change?

It's the design.. I could be wrong, but I think it's called dual runners?

Just by looking at it, the intake manifold that the VE comes with falls short by so much..

red bwoy, this is what I have so far..

. K&N Cone Filter
. Metal 2 core radiator
. 2" piping & freeflow muffler
. 5FWD box Twisted Evil
. Mobil engine oil & redline gear oil

I did this mod on a ZL-DE and it felt like when I put on my air intake system for the first time. This a good free mod

yes the ZM-DE intake manifold is a feelable difference. Try and get a fuel mod though it leans a little with the intake and the manifold. Although the ZL-VE has 290cc red injectors its still not enough. maybe a walbro 190LPH pump. the red paint ent looking so bad boy. hey u did not see the mazda drive this sunday gone on d forum? next time yuh coming eh? it will maybe in 2 months

glad d ZL-VE work out man.
oh one more thing. Try the Redline 10W30 oil. dont use anything except 10W30 the VVT will work like sheit if u dont thats the best advice i could give on that ZL-VE! Smile

I couldn't make the drive because I had to work, but yeah, next time i'll make it priority.

I am useing 10W30, but mobil.. was thinking to try royal purple, but i'll go redline now. But yes the car wukkin! gave Allan a small run with his subaru this week on the highway, he only left me at around 180km and he was impressed by the lil 1.5 mazda.

Maztune, is my gearbox LSD? Allan seems to believe so.

I am considering the fuel pump as well as an ACT clutch kit. Twisted Evil

if you say so.... Confused Confused we using redline for years with no probs! well once its 10W30 i guess everybody has their own preference. Actually when we pulled d head cover off our ZL-VE to change d timing belt, there was no hint of sludge on d inner head, cams, and HLA's was shining. scrapped down a gearbox using redline 75W90 with similar results.

No all BJ F-Type gearboxes are open diff no LSD, but it does have a 4.3 final ratio for the high rev of the SV-T. actually the only mazda gearboxes with LSD are
1) B6T GTAe limited edition G Type
2)BPT 4WD G-Type
2) Mazdaspeed BP-ZE H-type
3) Mazdaspeed FS-DET H-type
4) Mazdaspeed FS-ZE H-type

oh I know somebody right now with a slightly used ACT heavyduty pressure plate with street and strip clutch for $1500 if u want it. its a good deal. give me a call 783-5064

the pump will be good, i glad it wukking, i knew it would. actually once upon a time a ZL-VE manual sedan ran 15.5 on wallers not bad for a 1500cc.

when u ready i will hook u up with a decent exhaust system. using yourzL-VE headers.

daz a nice intake u got there ζђίΰД™,. I'm thinkin bout getting a short ram intake, and just checking around on the net i'm only seeing ones for the 2.0 on the aem, k&N and injen sites. Will these still work on the ZL? And just looking at the stock setup, i'm seeing sensors attached to it, will i have to get some sort of adaptor for the sensors to attach to the SRI?
Oh yeah, will headers for the 2.0 fit on the ZL ?
Will anyone in the bamboo sell a zm engine manifold ALONE? cuz that swap sounds tempting.
