|
|
As the subject said I wanted to know how to get my hands on the drift bible (bootleg ofcourse) ...................................Basically I would really like to get into the drift scene, i was into the whole drags thing(watchin from the sidelines) and it jus got so boring after ah while especially where i live(Bago), there is no excitement..................its jus two guys going up d stretch.....................and to me there is little or no special skill involving handling or extreme controll on the part of the driver, So after seeing ah few DVD's. I jus love the ART of drifting.
I've Never tried drifting before( other than pullin up the E-Brake & turning into ah corner "kinda sideways") it does be kinda scary esspecially with the vehicle i does drive(KIA K2700II).
So if there any one out there who is willing to help ah upcoming drifter to enter the scene safely...............................with advice & criticism. I'm all ears so jus give me ah P.M. leh me know bout dah bible too. |

Rooki3,just search for it on some torrent site or something. isohunt?
also, please dont drift the kia again
i dont know if you can make it but before the year ends there is a practice drift event here in trinidad. maybe you can pass in and talk to some of the drivers. you can get alot of help/info there.
what did you have in mind for your drift car? what is your budget. |

tsuchiya should be able to give you some good advice. i can only give you soo much since im in the learning stages also
from what ive been reading, the ke70 shares parts with the ae86 corollas? also the charmant i think the parts are interchangable with each other?
a charmant is a nice car to me, so is the ke70. a 20v in there and you good to go. dont forget suspension and brakes
is this going to be a full time drift car? or also be used for daily driving? |

ok..i think it's better to have a budget and stick to it, cuz things will get expensive fast. The KE70 or charment is a good choice becuz it's pretty balanced, light and its suspension and drivetrain can be interchanged with each other and the undisputable king of drift, the ae86. the charmant's body panels are getting preety hard to find but I so do love them.
I'd suggest getting the ke70 and either locating a supplier of ae86 parts from japan or from the US (which normally u may have to buy brand new).
Get the hardest thing first and out of the way cuz u'll get ticked off having the power and footwork but only able to spin that inside tyre.
First thing is the diff and suspension. Either get a local GSR diff with LSD and re-weld the diff mounting points to fit, or get an ae86 LSD diff from the US.
You can get springs anywhere. And the engine can be courced in the bamboo.
Powerplant is of your choosing....(try anything but an SR nah...pleez)...the 4ag's are excellent engines and strong as a piper that drinkin guiness, BUT the gearboxes are rarer than gold. You may be able to get 1 thru the US or use the W55 gearbox with a different bellhousing.
yeah, it's more trouble than u think but in the end that won't matter when tyre smoke is pouring thru the side-window |

| at 1st u'll find it pretty tough to slide the car smoothly. Don't laugh, but I say try drifting with GT3 on a ps2. Even Kerry swears by this. It allows u to develop the mindset of throttle application and handbrake. |

Thanks alot Tsuchiya,&Death-Row,, wanted to know one more thing what are the advantages & dis advantages of Boost is drifting & is it ah necessity
Basically what i plan to do is find ah car, with ah sturdy body ofcourse(not in the mood for tetanus injections), i've already got an engine & gearbox(CA18DET), look for some good spring, good tyres, get the GSR lsd( AE86 from the U.S go be expensive),have the car gutted internally(full time drift car), maybe ah roll cage in the near future, upgrade the brakes, Buy myself ah helmet,go to the mall carpark(when it's closed ofcourse) & see if i could go sideways
Still want to know where can i get the drift bible! |

(turbo) boost = horsepower and torque, but not as much response as a naturally aspirated engine. Its better to have good response when u drift, u don't want massive turbo lag mid-drift. But N/A cars are poor at torque, 'cept maybe a V8, and that's wat u need to keep the tyres spinning. Boost is not a neccessity, but it makes it a whole lot easier IF u can handle it.
I'd say get a nissan 200sx or the like becuz u can get suspension and diff parts easily in the bamboo. |

isn't that kia one of those 2ton trucks? With high centre of gravity? The thing likely to flip if cornered hard. B11 is closer to the ground at least. And once you don't endanger ppl by practicing on the streets.. |
