I am thinking about getting a G/vitara..I'm thinking about a model between 1999-2002..preferably around 2002...
So what I would like to know is; are parts for these vehicles hard to get? and/or expensive?
where can I get parts for it locally should something go wrong?
how durable are they and their gas usage?
some insight on this would be really helpful to me
thanks |

Part are not too difficult. They can be bought at lifestyles motor. Parts can also be obtained at leading part shops as well. The price is a bit higher than regular Japanes vehicle, but not all that expensive as you might think. They are very durable, in fact they are rated higher than the Rav4 (similar year). Body parts can also be bought foreign used in case of an accident, but expect to pay a tidy sum for this as well.
The fuel economy is a bit low, around 22-25 miles per gallon maximum. On the bright side, it can use super. Do not expect to much resale value thought. |

hmm interesting....thanks
when u say 'not that expensive as you might think' what do u mean?
whats the price of a random part in relation to a similar part for a toyota or nissan
I wanted to get something high off the ground and with 4x4 capability should i decide to go hiking with it or passing through flood/mud prone areas easily...the vitara was the main one that stood out in my checking around...
you think this is good enough to get for a first vehicle?
any thoughts/ suggestions?
thanks again |

| In relation to the price of Toyota, Nissan parts etc, expect to pay about 10-25% more on mechanical parts. Body part can cost 25-50% more. The Suzuki is quite rugged and will have no problems with off road handling. Once you can afford it, I see no problem in having this as your first vehicle. |
