Can anyone verify when the old passports will no longer be accepted - Jan 2009 or Dec 2009? Also, is it possible to apply for the new passport at the T&T embassy of another country if you travel on the old passport and the deadline (jan or dec) meets you? Or is it that they wouldn't allow you to travel if your passport would no longer be valid when you're due to return home?
I hear that it's virtually impossible to get onto the 669-4MRP to make an appointment and when you do get one it's like in 4 months! |

After trying for about 50 times, you will get through as number 20 and when you do speak to the CSR ... You will get an appointment around next year February or March ..... Thats 2020 Vision for yuh ! |

yea they reach around march..
the big question is when dec 2009 lets say 500,000 people old passports expiring immediately what are they going to do? u cant get tru now far less for then
you gettin appointment jan 2012?. |

i went and got it extended till middle of 2009 |

i say thats bullshiet, my sister went and got a new one just a couple months ago, who gave you that piece of information?

| amm sir, last 2 weeks my mother went to see about it since she was in tnt now..and they said once u have a passport already that valid they not gonna issue you a new one, so i guess whoever in the immigration office give her tha information talking sheit, i jsu telling u what happen in recent times....u saying your sister got one a couple months ago....a couple months is long ago u know... |

yea its on the sign..sayin it has to be expired.
i think u could go and bawl dat u cah find d ole one u need a new passport lol.......and if u have to travel in the meanwhile just use the existing one |

JJ16 hard luck dey i didnt see the part about having a valid one still  , my sis one was expired but if you tell them you cant find it would you like have to pay a grand or so and present police report or sumting like that, oh well next year the system will fall apart when all fails when noone can use d old ones and they will have to change the system of applying again |

First of all, as long the passport has life in Jan 09 -Dec 09 there is no choice but to accept it, either way if you were to actually get an appointment to renew your passport and it has that much life they would not renew it, at least not at the moment.
It is possible to get a renewal stamp at any of the T&T Missions abroad, at the moment they do not have the digital machines available, so depending on which mission it would be a renewal stamp if not the old passport. But that is subject to the Mission you go to.
Either way, in order to travel ideally you are supposed to have a passport with a minimum life of 6months unless an emergency. Its not manditory but some countries do tend to give problems. |

Thanx for the info...so my passport's good until Dec 2009... and I'm safe to travel until at least June 09.
Let's hope the Passport Office get their act together for the high volume that's going to hit them next year! |
