Ok its an Elantra Sedan PBB series and the tranny in it gone through, average price I'm getting so far for a tranny is between 6-7K. I have reached to the point where its seems more economical to to a Nissan or Mitsubishi engine and tranny conversion which should cost me the same amount as the Hyundai tranny.

I need some advice on the situation. If I do the conversion, I want to know which is the better engine and tranny to go with, so far my mechanic is telling me to go with a B14 GA16DE or a Primera SR18 or 20 DE.

If the conversion comes through sucessfully my original Hyundai 1.8 engine will be for sale which is in perfect working condition.

go with the SR18/20, right now my mechanic is making the change, if you need to get a good offer I suggest u try any outlets of Bics, they will provide you with engine complete, tranny, gear box etc. and the price is better than bamboo,Hyundai Transmission is a killer, it will buss your pocket, beleive me,I was getting headache on Friday..stick with the change.Hyundai vehicles is heavy, durable cars, putting a B14 will be ok, a lot more cost effective, but if you need power go with SR18/20.
