WTK : 307 Skywagon starter - repair or replace ??

The fuel pump went bad in the car and we tried to tumble a couple times. A bit of smoke came from under the bonnet. We changed the fuel pump and is getting full charge from the ignition but to tumble when trying to start the car. We only gettin one click and that's it. Someone suggested the static in the starter seems to be stuck or burnt or something. Can this be repaired or serviced and at what price and by whom other than the company. If not can someone get a new or used one for us and at what price ???
