parts can be shipped at ok prices from miami or england. once you have correct part numbers.
a good volvo mechanic who wont empty your pocket and who makes house calls: Ainsley - 748-4053 tell him Rajiv referred you. |

this is an excellent choice of car!
make sure its local tho, cuz the local are designed for our market.
def a trouble free car
most amazing at cornering at very fast speed
if possible, get the 2.0T, sweet take off, both on flat and uphill.
volvo signifies safety, so u kno u'll be in go(o)d hands!
john williams inpoint lisas & neal & massy carry parts
also, if its a local, u can service at masterserv in morvant
this is an ultimate machine, so GOOD LUCK MAN!!! |

well hoss. I have a PBG S80 with a 2.9L straight - 6.
Basic run down.
-Excellent car, incredible comfort and safety
-Looks reel damn sharp
-Decent performance for a brick
-A euro that worked like a horse for 10 years.
-Up to about 7 years of age, maintainence costs were pretty nice, actually it was real nice, better than a vw passat of the same age
Now the problems
Car is currently ~10yrs old
1) Brake booster is making a hissing noise
2) SMI seals in steerin colum SHOT and u cyah get seal kits for it
3) ac blower bep out last week
4) Throttle did frig up and de car did start to rev on its own and do reeeeeel sheit
5) interior parts slowly deading
6) general maitainance cost shottin up
7) plastic becomin dry rot and thing breakin off
engine losing power
9) tranny grabbing
10) windows giving some problems
- and a host of other minor sheit.
NOW dont take this as all bad information. Personally I envy the fact u want a S60. (best engine is the 2.5 B5254T2 in the R series FLICKIN AMAZIN HOSS) - anyways yea the s60s are great cars and the car is only three years old. However if you going to buy one I'll tell u this
-sell de damn car at 7 years. If not be prepared to pay some money. I don't know if this is true with the s60 but I kno about 3 other s80 owners with the same year as mine and boi, all dem car flare up at 7 years (then again my s80 was the first s80 in the country too eh ^_^)
-service it regularly and get a good mechanic
-if you like to modify do REEEEL damn research, volvos reeel funny-- a time i take out my ac module and the ABS light stay on and i had to clear de code at the dealer, a normal OBD cyah delete the code. Check out www.sweedspeed.com - bess site and it go help u alot.
-show off to real ppl cause, well is a volvo
Good luc and enjoy a boss car!!
- p.s. - installin a bess sound system in a s80 is a beyotch hoss lol |

| I have a 1996 850 T5. Have it from new and is an amazing vehicle. Great performance. Maintenance a bit heavy, but what do you expect. Major items were change the ABS module, steering rack service, change rotors (have a very heavy foot... but then again why buy a T5), doing about 60,000 miles. Other than that, just routine stuff. Super Auto in Point Lisas looks after it... they had the dealership originally. You can source parts yourself and they will install. If you are prepared for the maintenance costs, it is a great vehicle. |

I'm also interested in a Volvo....supposed to be long lasting vehicles but from what I'm hearing here on the forum doesn't seem so.....could it be because Trinidad gets reject stock?
Not knocking Volvo...cause I really like them....was considering a used S60 myself but 60,000 miles is not much mileage....my EK4 SiR is 10yrs and doing 186,000kms and not a problem....regular oil change and that's it....runs hard and interior is almost showroom condition....when detailed car looks amazing......this is what I'm used to when it comes to low maintenance.....and long lasting quality/durability...
Always thought Volvos were better than the other Euros when it comes to reliability and dependability/quality....
What's the deal here? Anyone???? |

my boy, u CANT compare a volvo wit a honda... its like comparing a RC Cola to a Coca Cola!!! Hav u ever driven a European car? not for a spin but for a longer period? try it!
& no, t'dad does not get reject stock. Volvo is made in Sweden. Conrico in England is the wholesale supplier to the c'bean market & other countries. T'dad supply comes from Conrico. Their cars are designed for the tropical region.
the car IS low maintenance, jus a lil more costly, but worth it!
btw, i own a S60 thats y i kno so much & i did my research.
do your research, u'll find about their reliability/ quality/ dependability!
& lastly, fyi - Volvo is the # 1 safest vehicle in the world! |

^^ ur missing my point...I know there's a difference in how they drive but I'm looking at durability and reliability....I mean zorz puts up a serious list there and he also mentions that other S80 owners have the same issues....now considering the low volume of sales for Volvo in Trini that's saying something....and I remember the first batch of VWs sold in TT were reject stock and any1 who bought one would tell you that there was no end of trouble with them...so it really doesn't matter who the supplier is....in the end they will need to get rid of their stock. The good news is that N&M has taken over the franchise and that means better representation for the brand in TT
BTW...I always do research that's how I know about Volvo's longevity reputation...however...Volvo consistently ranks below the industry average in both the J D Power IQS and VDS surveys and other surveys note that while the average person equates Volvo with dependability, those that have lived with the brands front-drive vehicles might not agree....this is what I'm talking about |

^^ C307 Focus underpinnings.
S80/S60 pre EuCD Mondeo chassis, Be wary of Autobox I5 vehicles with the Magnetti Marelli ETC. Recall item in the US, but a not in Europe. Will leave you in limp home as internal TPS fails. |

ek4ever
i own one, i know wat im saying, of all the 12+ vehicles i owned in my life, i'll never turn back. Volvo for life. Durability & reliability is an understatement.
LJohn Williams who had the dealership b4 n&m apparently made a mess of it (as so with other brands Audi, Range Rover etc). They gave Volvo the bad name. Neal & massy has changed ALL of this. Im TOTALLY satisfied! & i know my $$ was well spent.
my advice is...go strong, lift your head up high, cuz u'll be riding in a machine! |

| ^^Yeah....good thing for N&M cause like Bamotors a dealer could really do damage to a brand....even kill it altogether...still keeping my eye open for a used Volvo....unfortunately not many around |
