For those of you who own VW's and dont service it in the company heres a easy way to clear the retarded service light or OIL CHECK light. It is supposed to work on 99 and newer models, works great for me since i change my own oil lol. here it goes:

To clear "SERVICE"

1. with the key out of the ignition find and press the reset button (hold down)
2. turn the ignition on (warning lights come on) wait about 10-15 sec till most or the lights are off ( still pushing button)
3. turn ignition off (button still pressed) and remove the key
4. release button
5. see if interval has stopped, if not then follow 1-4 again
[The reset button it the odo trip button]

To clear OIL-Oil service
Press and hold button (A) (Located on speedometer below LCD display)
Switch ignition ON
Keep button (A) depressed until "---" appears in display
Release button (A)
Switch ignition OFF
[Refer to your Manual to see which is Button A, it is listed in instrument controls usually to the front of the booklet]

To Clear INSP- Inspection service
Press and hold button (A)
Switch ignition ON
Keep button (A) depressed until "---" appears in display
Release button (A)
Switch ignition OFF

Hope this helps.
