|
|
so i installed the volt meter like u guys instructed and callibrated it to match the voltage on the amp (checked with a DMM).
i noticed with the car started at ful crank its between 11 - 12 guess if i play it longer it will drop furthur.
i know and i intend to add another battery but for the mean time what is a safe voltage reading at which to take off the music and let the batteries recharge. |

actually most amps can go down to ~12.0V before the become excessively stressed..
mumra, what is the rest voltage of your battery? to find that out, check the voltage of your battery in the morning before you first start your car..
most standard water batteries will have a rest voltage of 12.5-12.6V.. the deep cycle or AGM types rest abit higher at 12.7-12.9V..
when playing music with your car on, once the voltage stays above that battery rest voltage, your battery will remain charging..
once the vehicle's voltage drops below the battery's rest voltage, you will be using energy from the battery.. i.e. running it down..
to protect your battery, keep it above the resting voltage, especially when playing for a long while..
also, idling your engine a slight bit higher will allow your alternator to produce more current! try revving your engine at ~1200 - 1400rpm while playing your system all out.. |

| 3stagevtec is correct. If revving up still doesn't help when you are at full tilt then you should look into a higher amperage alternator first then getting another battery. |

almost any kind.. even if the mounts are different, you can just get someone to fabricate a new mount for you..
it is more difficult, but helps if hi amp alts for your vehicle is hard to find.. |

You can get direct replacements for corollas from Iraggi, Excessive Amperage or many other HO alt brands if you like.... last quote I got was $370USD for a 200A Excessive Amperage. Irragi 180A is now ~$310USD on eBay.... was like $270 for a 200A in June though
Bear in mind this is before Shipping to TnT and facking customs.
noyztoyz has high output alts from excessive amperage but it may be a generic one for which you may have to fabricate a bracket. |

^^
better buy a generic one and make a bracket, wont cost that much extra.
Companies will charge alot more for a "custom make" alternator. |
