that is a bad ass van....
wot condition is it in? are you willing to sell it?
im scouting around for a FJ40 chassis.. body dont have to be all that... want to make a mud van out of it. suspension has to be complete. engine and drive train.
if you know of any please give me a shout.
if u are referring to the original 6 cylinder engine... i dont tink u should change it...
get it rebuilt if needed and run CNG.
these engine have loads of power. i know of a few ppl who are using the original engines in their land cruiser wreckers and it works wonders.
the 4 speed will sort of have ur engine revving high on the highways, if their is a 5 speed box for the van maybe you can try to source one. this will better ur top speed and engine high revving.
i believe ur original gearbox is made up in one unit with the transfer case. not sure of the toyota 1uzfe or 2uzfe will bolt unto it. if not, u will have to make an adaptor plate to bolt the engine to the gearbox bell housing. on top of that, u will have to get a fly wheel for the toyota v8 you are planning to use as most of those engine come automatic.
it will take some researching, looking around for parts, machine shop work, and a lot of headache and frustration.... but it can be done! |

You will will find most of your answers there and if you want some local help pm streetbeastinc on the forums. He has alot of knowledge with 4x4's and even has an fj60 and fj80 in his yard. He can help you sourc parts and stuff.
Now if you are selling or if you find anyone of the above mentioned models in real good condition, I want to buy one myself so let me know ok.... |
