Can a broken transmission housing be repaired/replaced?

I have a SR20 LSD transmission that came out of a crash but the housing has some gaping holes in it. Cracked from impact in accident.
Yes, I got it for free Mr. Green

The transmission worked fine before the 'mishap' and there dosen't seem to be any internal damage.

yes you can get it welded but it's really expensive, wouldn't your housing work back onto it?

i would suggest gutting you sr20 box and just putting in the lsd parts into it
a cast housing will be a little more security than a welded one

my 2 cents
if the housing get lash to rip it then the internal gears would have taken some impact also so best to strip it down and it have plenty garage with old transmission sitting there just go get a housing off of them

The transmission I'm using is non-lsd so I wont be able to swap the parts into that. The lsd transmission has a bulge where the left side axel is inserted.

I'm sure I can find an old transmission housing but do you guys know anybody that can swap it out? I'll post some pics over the week-end.

Depending where it is cracked, it could be repaired. Mine cracked on the inner housing and got it repaired about one month ago.
