If any one wanted to turbo charge/upgrage their stock engine ..rod /piston integrity, limit would be a factor .

Looking to get some useful input/research on this topic.

So far the rods i can account for are 4efte and 5ehfe

4efte good for 240 whp and 5ehfe good for 310 whp @ 7200rpm with 4efte stock pistons

Click for full-size.

Click for full-size.

the good looking rods here are the 2zzge and 4agze , looking good for 300 whp +

Shocked

if any one has reliable research on any toyota engine, rods / pistons strength or limit, please post it here for the benefit of all, thanks Smile

2ZZ
Pistons – ring seem to crack or fail at the 250 / 275 WHP mark
Rods – No reported failures from over-power

1ZZ
Pistons – ring probably will fail at about the 250/275 WHP mark
Rods – have failed below 250 WHP mark

on and the 2zz rods...have been pushed to 500-600hp.....

The 4AGZE pistons and rods have been known to take alot of abuse i know of a starlet that was pushing well over 300whp on stock internals with the 4ag.
Why the need to know of this are these rods/pistons interchangeable?
If not why not just go with some forged instead?

toyota has built some really strong engines eg 2jzgte which can do 1000 hp stock bottom end and there is really no need to forge out an engine such as it. when forged rods and pistons by them selves cost over 10k TT in a 4 cyl.

Im also sure there is no need to forge out a few others to make decent power. Just wanted to get the research on most if i can.

the E series rods and pistons are inter changeable

but what about the A, JZ, S, ZZ , NZ series? can any one confirm? Question

The JZ pistons are the interchangeable but the 1JZ are lighter. The 2JZ rods and the 2JZ gets it's displacement from this longer stroke. I've seen a 1jz do 500Hp on stock internals and the car has been a daily driver for over a year. I've heard of some 2JZs doing well over 800HP on stock internals as a daily.
I've heard of the 3s gte doin 500hp on stock internals but i think anything over 300hp there is a problem with the ignition system. Others can confirm!

Y'all can confirm with the likes of Alltrac, drd3sgte, corollaboy etc. that the 3sgte rods are good for 500bhp when combined with race bearings. Shotpeened stock rods are good for 700bhp. 3sgte pistons are good for around 450bhp with knock/detonation under control. afaik, there is no problem with the oem ignition system @ 300hp, unless the components are old/bad/faulty. Lots of mr2's in the US are pushing 450hp+ on stock ignition...and I mean OEM stock, with no problems. The 300whp mark is usually the threshold for the stock fuel system....injectors, rail and pump.

Mr. haydn28 both the 4efte & 5efhte can run 20psi on stock internals. problem is how long can it sustain this kind of abuse eventually ring glands will crack.

I held a pauter rod in my hand a while aback

sweet rods but a lil too heavy IMO
