Freak....the difference in high quality oils are very insignificant .... castrol, mobil, shell.... etc etc... just be sure to change regulary. Different dealers uses different brands based on the bulk discounts they get.

The Castrol Ultramax isn't synthetic though. After 170,000 km I ain't gonna use a syntec... that could mean trubble.

I use Mobil1 in my car and I change that at the same interval as if I were using mineral oil. I dunno how beneficial the practice is, but it's been working so far Wink

Just something for you to think about

lots of good info 2nrs

as for oil testing, the Shell blending plant in Pt. Lisas does oil testing

They do testing of our used oil from our compressors, but then again it's them we buy the oil from

dunno if they will test any other brand

need to take a lil drive down there one of these days during lunch time, as soon as workload permits

BTW guys TJ's has stock of the Amsoil diesel products. Cetane Boost Additive, Diesel Modifier and the other one...

I bought a bottle of the Diesel Additive Concentrate and poured in about 1/3 o the bottle then filled up the tank. Felt the difference IMMEDIATELY

Also, Amsoil has the following prices quoted on their website

CBA - $7.20 a bottle ($45.36TT)
Diesel Concentrate - $6.65 ($41.90)

I pay $55 - $60 a bottle for any of the three products... just FYI Wink

I am going to try to get some of the diesel treatments to supply our little Group; so let me know the one you use the most and i will get back to you and the cost. I am trying to get a best deal so we can all save some money. Idea

Saied, I was looking into a winch a while ago. If you going to do serious work then get a hydraulic winch. But otherwise an electric winch is ok.

I don't know who has any hydraulic winches locally cause I called off my search after a while. Car Boutique had some 3000 lb electric winches for about $4000.
Dunno if they got further stock.

I know one of my suppliers can get the winches out of the US and maybe you can check Team Loco to fabricate a bracket for you.

A number of the hydraulic winches I saw ran off the reservoir for the power steering. It would just be to route the piping. Not too bad if you think about it. P/S isn't a critical component in case anything goes wrong.

The hydraulic winch only requires you to tick the engine over at about 1500 rpm or so. My Mazda has a knob to turn to adjust rpm. I guess it's a hand throttle Question
Anyways, this knob is for that purpose so you can operate the winch from outside with a remote.

bleedingfreak thanks for responding to my cry. I don’t use my L2 for work at all. It’s all personal use. So I was looking at an electric winch. Team Loco is definitely the way I am going; I have heard a lot of great things about those guys. I saw a lot of good electric winches online that I can order from $250ish up but these things are kind of heavy and I know that the shipping with my skybox will sky rocket the price. Super winch is one of the brands I am seeing a lot of and also Ramsey.

I am trying to work on the L2 with the little time that I have right now so a lot of the things I have to keep on hold until I go on vacation later in the year. So much to do so little time. I am sure a lot of tuners know exactly what I mean.

I will be posting a lot and I am sure I am going to get a lot of good advice from the guys here. Of course anything I can do to help anyone of my fellow tuners, I am more than happy to.

A few other things I am considering are:

1. K&N cone Filter
2. Front Bars with Fog lights and possibly a winch. (Team Loco)
3. Side Steps (Team Loco)
4. Crystal Headlights which I already have.
5. Repaint
6. My rims are kind of faded and flaking so I have to address that. (Repaint or Replace)
7. Tool Box or Tray Cover
8. Re-upholster or Replace the front Seats

That’s all I thought of so far. Slowly but surely I will get it all done.

^^ Use as directed - one bottle treats 50 gallons... so about 1/3 bottle should do...

It works. You'll notice the difference. BTW I pay $60 for it. No big difference I guess Wink

Saied sounds like you have an interesting project ahead of you. The best advice I can give to you is to prioritize... this will all take time.

In terms of the winch... what's the primary purpose ? That'll determine if it's worth all the additional modifications. My neighbour uses one on his suzuki when he goes offroading.

Be sure to research the K&N filter... and it's definitely not an offroading or for use in a dusty environment.... because it increases the air intake, it also lets through some dust particles.

Anyway enjoy your project... I'm also looking for a similar project myself.

BTW Fellas I have some nice 15s 6 hole 4x4 rims for sale. Check it out and let me know if anyone interested

sweeks as usual you always have an excellent input. The winch is being considered for use in off roading I haven’t done anything serious yet but the little adventures I did have were tremendously entertaining. Good point on the K&N there. I will have to find a better idea for better engine breathing. I remember those rims. Sweet rims. I also agree that I will have to take the project one step at a time which I intent to do. The good part is nothing is cast in stone and I got you guys to guide me along the way. Who could ask for a better team?

I just finished changing my engine oil. Any one knows how much oil this engine takes? If I remember correctly I usually put about 7L but today only about 5L drained out. I guess it must have been on a slight tilt or something. I don’t know. Well I am all filled back up and the dip stick reading right so everything should be ok. But can someone please confirm the amount of oil these engines usually take.

Oh I almost forgot as for the winch. What is a good pull capacity winch to use for this application on the L200?

....when i was checkin around, a winch cost a $1 per pound and it's always recommended to buy a winch twice the weight of your vehicle. i want anywhere from 5,000 to 8,000 but i can't afford that... Sad

on some sad news.......i cracked the guage housing on the dash due to mounting the guages, so one crack is being held up with glue as is the guage.....i'll try to hunt around for a scrap housing and learn from this experience.

as for the run, i have no problems with it......i would like to start early though....say......8:30am, reason being, less traffic brilliant sunshine and should anything go wrong, we have enough daylight to get back home w/o to much worry.

i'm up for any route but once it passes through the chag to rio road thingy.....never been through there and i like touring the country. if we are going the north to south route then we'll meet in GB by the bandstand, if from central to south.....then in PP infront west sport.....theres a car park by the glass triangle building.....from there we could leave.

also, numbers should be exchanged so that any late comers could play catchup.

better send my van for service tomorrow.... Mr. Green
