Okay and lastly....

I changed out my fuel filter (again) this week. The Sakura filter is really crappy... Surprised

The filter WAS clogged up, but so was the strainer... (This may be attributed to the tank running a bit low on a couple of occasions)

Added to that, there was pieces of the filter material stuck INSIDE the strainer Exclamation Not me and Sakura again Exclamation

I didn't get the Bosch filter but I got an Israeli made filter. We'll see how this one holds up...

Yeah Freak... I was trying to source the Bosch but no luck either. However I've never had problems with the sakura either.

Can't run that diesel tank low boy.....keep above 1/4 if you can.

^^ It was an emergency... Embarassed

Right now using the Amsoil Diesel Modifier and Cetane Boost Additive every 2 weeks, for the past couple months. This may be attributing to my great fuel economy of late.

I paid $55 and $60 for them, if anyone wanted to know.

bleedingfreak, pm me on where you got the amsoil to buy.

where i buy them, their prices got ridiculous all of a sudden.

what could also be done with the diesel modifier is to fill the new fuel filter with it when changing the fuel filter.

Freak... I think those products too potent to be using so often bro ... a mechanic told me that it raises the rust etc in the tank and that eventually gets into the fuel system. I'm not sure how true that is but I'm wondering if that's your problem.

I'm also interested in the Amsoil products. I have a oil change/service coming up and would like to use them. Where did you get it? I heard it's only Chaguanas Auto Supplies that have.

not a diesel owner\driver yet

but i was thinking, since as u guys mentioned, the diesel fuel tank gets really "dirty" from fuel dreggs and rust,

how practical is it to clean out the fuel tank ever so ofter ~ once per year

this way most if not all te accumulated contaminants will be purged as well as you will have the abiliy to run your tank lower, thus extending the time between gas station visits as well as use fuel filters longer

Only use 2 oz every 3rd fill up or so. That's the nice thing about the Amsoil... Those two bottle last a good few months.

Honestly, I never cleaned out a gas tank in my life. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix. Maybe I wrong? Maybe...

That's why we try to fill up (diesel and gas) at stations that are 1) newer, 2) out of flood zone and 3) have a higher turnover rate. You know the importance of that already. Very Happy

Thanks Freak.... will see if I get to TJ today or early next week, time permitting. The prices did go up recently.

Venum, I once asked a mechanic about cleaning out the tank and he said that it might not have made a big difference because of the bottom of the tank is made up. I can't remember the details.

About this run.... A Sunday morning or evening?? Got some work going on at my house on Saturdays.

It would be good to meet the brothers.... after all I'm talking to you guys morning and evening.... sheit... I'm hooked to trinituner.... or so says my wife!

well i was thinkin, if u dont want to take out ur tank.....ent fuel tanks supposed to have a drain cork?...maybe if u take out the cork and flush out the tank wit some kero-scene or somtin like dat......that should take care of not all but most of the dregs Exclamation Question

Passed by TJ Auto Supplies today - no more Amsoil Diesel products.

Didn't ask him when he getting again though. Might be a price increase with the new shipment, with the way things go in this country... Rolling Eyes

I was down a quart of oil. Seems the oil gurl is starting to burn some oil after all...

Oh and just crossed 170,000 km...

Thing I have a left side CV to change will check to see how serious it is... Rolling Eyes

GP... what tray cover did you put on? Is this the regular one with the buttons? Who did it for you? Send us a pic nah....

E2R what type of cover you going with? I've been thinking about it but can't make up my mind what I want, and how compatible it would be if I eventually got an alpha rollbar?

Freak... thanks for letting us know. Will probably call next week to find out if TJ's get Amsoil stocks.

dunno if this was mentioned earlier in these pages

Chaguanas Auto Supplies is the AMSOIL agent\distributor for Trinidad (not sure if for the Caribbean also)

they have a hell of a lot of AMSOIL products

TJ would more than likely have gotten his stocks from CAS

check them as they also retail from their shop front

when allyuh fellas planning this run thing, holla at me too

I am a 4G 2nr right now (4G15 & 4G18), hoping to be a 4D or 4M 2nr soon (4D56 or 4M41\4M40) Very Happy

So Iam willing and eager to learn from you guys

They are probably the agent, doesn't mean they sell it cheaper Laughing

e.g. I called the local distributor for Mobil1 to get a pricing for a couple cases. The prices I got were just one dollar less that my usual parts guy.

Remember there is a difference between sole distributor, authorised distributor, exclusive distributor, etc.

A side story I know is of a company, who, down here can sell lab equipment for LESS than the US retail price because their parent company get up to 50% discount from the manufacturers Exclamation

I know I getting a plenty off topic but think about that... Rolling Eyes

Imagine how much we as customers get screwed... Mad
