Seen the new Fords
The 2.5TD with Auto is $215K
the 3.0TD with Auto is $230K
Not a bad price!!!
The 3.0 is assembled in Germany and is branded with the Duratec logo
The 2.5TD with Manual is $189... the 3.0TD is $210
6 airbags, 6CD with MP3, etc etc... no accessories! Those cost extra, OR you put them on yurself! |

I got this off a Toyota website. I can't remember if it Toyota Jamaica. If you with this 10 000km at least go with a syntec blend or better yet go with a fully synthetic oil and use the original filter. I'm using Mobil Delvac1.
BTW....I'm also in the market for a used roll bar - alpha type. Fellas if you here anything, let me know. |

Nigel what's your location.... Reputable Auto Dealer (Steve 636-0849) on the Couva main Road carries the Delvac1. I think it was like $200 a gallon and it sells only by the gallon. I wouldn't be surprise if the filters for the 1kz-te is the same for the 1kd-ftv.
Toyoman what mileage you running the Delvac1 to? What you driving btw?
WagonR... I kinda like the Alpha type man.... it looks more modern but I hear what you saying.
Later fellas.... Sweeks out. |

| I drain the sedimenter every 6000 kms. This is usually about the time that the van begins to blue smoke at high rpm and hesitate. |

I've never had to drain the sediment trap thingy... but I did it once just to learn how to...
Maybe if I did I wouldn't have fuel pump strainer problems?
Eh Val? |

my warning light came on for the first time at about 21K, so i replaced the cartridge....the light came on at about the same mileage with 2 of our ford rangers also...
i don;t run my tank under 1/4 either, that's where the dregs of the diesel is.... |

You'd still get stuff in the strainer, the sedimenter is just to remove the water. If you change your fuel filter often, you should not have to drain the sedimenter as you're basically doing the same thing (removing the water by means of removing the waterlogged fuel filter).
But draining the sedimenter can increase the lifespan of your fuel filter in my experience. |

| Guys ... what mileage do you change your fuel filters at? Do you use the original or go with after market filters?. I use Sakura and run them from 10 000km to 15 000km. |

sweeks as I dscovered the other day - the Sakura filters are too porous to trap enough of the debris, dregs, etc contained in the fuel and as such I had a relatively clean fuel filter as compared to a semi clogged pump strainer.
So, of course, I am now wary of using these filters... Don't know if anyone else can claim a similiar experience.
Also, I can't give a time interval for my filter change since I had experienced this problem with the Sakuras (unknown to me for 2 years...) |

AFAIK i am using the orig. filter from the factory but will have to look under the hood to be sure.
further more, i service every 3-4months regardless of mileage. if things need changin, they are, if they could last till the next one well they do. |
