I've seen a couple of the new models frontier... they look good. However the Titan (US Version) got my attention.

Now that the new diesels engines are coming with common rail technology, has any of the dealership started recommending 10 000km service schedules?

I've read where common rail engines can go that and more between services because the direct injection are cleaner running, leaving much less soot in the oil.

I saw the new Frontiers in the UK....come with a 174hp 2.5 turbo diesel (same engine as the Pathfinder). Got pretty good reviews too.

Thats quite unfortunate that the dealerships haven't faced up to the longer service schedules. I guess that wouldn't be profitable to them.

One correction... it's 171hp not 174.

http://www.nissan.co.uk/home/vehicles/lcv/D40V/performance/index.html

http://www.nissan.co.uk/home/vehicles/lcv/D40V/index.html

I read in a UK 4x4 magazine where the service schedule for these were 18 000miles.

That's almost 30 000km. I know we definitely can't run this much because of the quality of our diesel but I think 10 000 to 12 000km would be reasonable.

Val... personally I think buying a brand new vehicle is expensive now. If you can't afford one, keep looking you might get something in good condition for a good price.

Remember a vehicle depreciates the most in the first 2 years.

Roadhog... both a mechanic and a reseller has advised me against of using Amsoil regularly.

I've heard it raises the rust from the fuel tank and that it also damages the injector tips.

Since I found this out, I use it no more than twice a year depending on the mileage I'm doing.

That's just my 2 cents.

Exactly, diesel engines are not meant as drag strip scorchers, they are towing monsters and here is where torque matters.

Next thing it like a SiR with high hp but low torque, what kinda waste of time van is that eh? Yuh cyah even tow yuh mother in law with that lol. Post up the torque!
