Yup it was blue. We got it from NP, same ppl that the gas stations get it from. Probably they cleaned our tank so it stayed clean. The company I work (see my website for details) for has a large diesel tank (in our dockyard) to fill our excavator, tractor, overloader, welding plants, sandblaster, small boats etc.

The tank done already as demand is high. Hopefully NP will continue delivering this good diesel. My advice, go to new gas stations for diesel, their tanks will be relatively new and not suffer from water seepage and possible rust as much as old tanks.

I actually went to get diesel for the excavator, and when I notice the colour I say na boy hadda put some in the van.

Fuel there is for company use only, can't organise for anyone, sorry folks.

Mind you, they actually do use red dye in diesel in the states, to distinguish quality (red is high sulfur off-road diesel).

^See for details, the one I put in recently was the last one, oily blue diesel.

Actually the diesel at the stations is "bluish" depending on the angle you are looking at it from. Large quantities in containers also appear blue when looked at from above. But the diesel in the older stations with underground storage should be avoided when possible. I only fill at the new stations because I know of real horror stories of water and get this beetles in the diesel..

Don't these filling stations have filters to control all these contaminants?

I know we been through this already but between Central and St. Augustine, what filling stations is recommended then? Isn't most of the tanks underground?

so i went to get diesel tonight by the quikshoppe on the cross... decided to get diesel from elsewhere for a change.

so the tank was empty, already getting 616kms to that tank.

so the diesel pump click off at around $100 so... so i start to rock the van and tell the man to pump it easy let it fill in all the air.

hear de yute "doh rock the van, yuh causing all the diesel to fall out"

i tell him "how you expect all the air and froth to go down?"

hear him "ah say don't rock the van, all the diesel coming out"

me: "yuh squeezing the nozzle to hard, dais why all comin out"

youth man, who pumping fuel with a backpack on his back (same guy): "ent yuh tell meh cut it off at $104, why yuh want $105 now?"

me: "look, just put $105, it could take it"

man start to twiss up he face as if he know how to pump diesel and knows it all... one dutty ass stinkin youth

i know i coulda get about $107 so, but i woulda slap him down by time i got there, with all that attitude he giving me... telling me how to pump the diesel in my own van and not to rock/shake it etc... Rolling Eyes

allyuh fighting and cussing for 3 dollars? Laughing

Roadhog, if you have a Mazda B2500 Turbo, it should be similar to my engine layout. You know where the fuel filter is right? Ok well under the fuel filter there is a butterfly valve, it's really hard to open, but put some strength into it and it will. Open it out almost all the way. Put a empty bottle or some kind of container under it to collect the water. Press the primer on the top of the pump (a big rubber push button) and the water will come out through the valve into the container. Do this until you see clean diesel coming out with no water. Then remove the container, dispose of the water, tighten up the valve (hand-tight but as tight as you can) and you're set.

You should do this as often as you change your fuel filter, or you can do it according to manufacturer's spec. The van is supposed to have a sedimentor light on the dashboard, when it lights up (looks like a fuel filter with water in it), the fuel filter is filled of water and you must do the process I explained above.

Your owner's manual should have this covered by the way Idea

Allyuh real full of it yes...

Yuh have to go when the station quiet to get fill up nicely...

Anyways - aside story - a woman in the gas station last night tell me to turn off my fog lights cause you not supposed to have lights in the station, it could cause a fire. I didn't bother to try to explain to the ignorant...

And she proudly tell me "Oh ho! Yuh learn something there ent!"

I just drive off and went another station. I been lugging it this week - 550 km to $78 Razz

I am so proud of me Smile

yea yea ah know lol.

Man what I've noticed, in the gas station sometimes they switch the brands of the treatment on you. You have to be careful. Sometimes they sell the Jectron (the good stuff) or the Kirvek which ain't so hot. Both are in very similar blue bottles so make sure you see what you're getting. Then again sometimes you don't have a choice.

I'm getting close to 600 a tank right now with A/C on 75% of the time. This is just after a tune up. The full tank takes like $80 or something. Note that we can't compare our full tank mileage to a car's cause our tanks are bigger. But we can compare our average fuel economy.

I'm getting on average 11kms/l or about 26 mpg. Pretty consistent so far and not bad for a 2.9 liter engine Cool
