the cheaper additives certainly smell like kerosene. I'm not sure if they will reduce the cetane level, but yes turbo and N/A diesel engines were designed with a particular Cetane level in mind. |

P.S. Last day of fasting. |
you mean you'll go with 50litres of diesel to 3.33 kerosene... the tank should be 70-75 litres. |

So the Frontier is home.
It's the ZD30 - 3.0 TDi
147 hp and 230 lb-ft or torque
(BTW, new Mazda B2500 has more torque)
Only drove it a lil bit, still have to put in immobilizer, etc
So what do I need to know about this engine? |

I was thinking about this a lil bit
Question: Wouldn't MOST of the CBA or other solution or cleaner just return to the fuel tank and mix with the fuel within the first minute?
Meaning only a small percentage pure injector cleaner getting directly to the injectors, etc?
Think bout it.. |

great read up there man will take me a lil while to read through it but has some nice info.
yeah it's a bit heavy but it's one amazing vehicle. onpar with the hilux and i believe it's the hilux's main compettitor. it is leading the class in power. very very confortable ride and suspention. as well as a great turning cycle for it's size. it also has more space than the hilux in cab. and the read seat is at a 25 degree angle very very confartable even in the back seat. will take some pics as soon as it's delivered for you guys. i like the shape as well hilux is to common this stands out on the road. but it's not a shape for everyone to like i must agree. |

What are common diesel problems?
Overheating
Black smoking
Burning oil
Loss of power
Anything else?
And what causes these problems? |

^^ Piss fuel from National Petroluem Marketing Company Ltd?
Diesels just need love...
From theory, diesel engines are supposed to run cooler because they rev lower.
Black smoking is a common, natural occurence of a diesel engine. Excessive smoking would be lack of fuel or air resulting in poor mixture.
As for burning oil, I've never really had that problem before. Always changed oil at regular intervals.
Loss of power with me usually came from fuel restrictions of the fuel strainer getting clogged, and to a lesser extent, dirty air filter. |

My recommendations are :
Oil change
mineral oil 5 000-6 000km
synthetic oil 10 000 - 12 000km
I'm considering changing oil filters every 6000km (because I use after market brands i.e. Sakura). I recently switched to full synthetic oil (Mobile Delvac1)
Try not to let your fuel drop below quarter tank. I change fuel filters ever 10 000 - 12 000km (sakura fuel filter). I pretty much aware of where I fill up because of concerns of how these gas stations service their pumps. I use 3 gas stations ... Gypsy (Couva), Medford (Endeavour, Chaguanas) and the gas station next to Pizza Hut when entering Curepe from the highway.
It's real important to have a clean air filter. Turbo uses a lot more air than non turbo engines. I use Sakura air filters but currently looking for a K&N for my engine.
Again if you got a turbo, you need to put in a turbo timer or let the engine cool down (that goes for gas engines as well).... I think that was mentioned earlier on.
Anyway congrats and good luck. |

Heard the same thing bout that station
Plus it's really old.
Try filling up at stations where you know there are new tanks installed. Also, where they change the filters in a timely manner. I've been to some stations where the filter is so clogged the fuel just drips along. Not a good idea |
