Check Bobby's in the Bamboo. I heard they had filters for the Triton....they might have for the new lux as well. |

*Sigh....Deep Breath*
Fellas, i have just completed reading ALL 87 PAGES of this Thread and i've Extracted all the usefull Info, so that i wouldnt have to go lookin for a certain topic:o ....
I must say....it was VERY informative and i see that u guys have Alot of Fun .....
But, i Still have some questions , that i didnt see any of u discussed...
Like Flushing of ur Fuel Tanks.....since that quality of our diesel is Very poor and u guys do sooo much milage with ur vans and, u all just change filters....But have any of u ever tried flushing out ur Fuel tanks ,
since thats where Most of the Dirtyness does settle.......or its just easier to keep ur level above 1/4 tank |

Sniper ... oil treatment aren't as popular as they use to be. I've read where they can actually block smaller oil passages. Regular oil changes are the best remedy for an engine's long life |

Dragsta... Congrats.
I haven't read where anyone had to flush their fuel tanks. This is a fair amount of work and because of a tank's design it doesn't guarantee that the tanks will be cleaned thoroughly. Frequent fuel filter changes (every 10 000 - 20 000km) and keeping our tanks above 1/4 is safer and a lot less work.

87 pages... That's where we reach already? Wow...
Anyways... the taking down the fuel tank for cleaning was discussed I think. And I will only say: "If it aint broke..."
Unless you having serious problems like Greypatch had, then removing the tank is...
BTW, some of the diesel tanks have drain plugs. Never investiquired mine cause I have a skid plate under the fuel tank (or is that the support?)
Fuel treatments, and change filters regular. I may decide to take down the fuel tank to clean, but after another 70K km - when I hit 250,000
If you wish to take down yours and inspect, then I wont stop ya. Just remember to take pics for us |

Cool, i'll go under and take a look at how hard this is to do and then make up my mind.....
oh, another question.......... i seen u guys talk abt Common Rail Technology, but didnt get to understand what it's abt
and also, is kick starting a diesel much harder than kick starting a gas vehicle
bcause i know the compression is almost twice as a gas engine |

Dragsta... the newer Japanese diesels are now using common rail technology. The fuel pump sends the diesel to the injectors under a very high pressure ....via the rail.
Basically it's suppose to be more efficient, quieter, cleaner (less soot in the oil) and affords longer oil change periods ..10 000km +. It's a lot more sensitive and you would note that opening up that fuel pump or messing with the fuel system can be dangerous. Everything is stored under high pressure.
Kick starting a diesel should be the same.
323_wagon... what's your mileage now? Any luck with the filters? |

I crossed 6600 Kms yesterday. Still no luck with the filters....Alas I might have to give TTTL more $$...
I took down the numbers on them... I'll try to source them online and make a bulk purchase.

323_Wagon.....If you're using the original filters, I'd definitely run that oil change up to 10 000km + (providing they're using syntec oil). What's TTTL recommendation on oil changes and did you do you're 1000km service?
Dragsta.....Most of the new diesels coming with more advanced ECUs. Pull the bonnet in the new Sportero and you can count at least 5 sensors on the engine man. All those sensors are being managed by the ECU.
The SR5s engine is the 1kz-te engine which has been around for more that 10 years (also found in some Prados and Hilux Surf) and that has a couple sensors as well and is managed by an ECU. |

Sweeks, its the original filters from toyota. I'm not sure if they used syntec oil, and getting info from them is like pulling teeth from a shark. I bought the Mobil 1 syntec for the oil change...however i cant get the filters (yet). Yep I did the 1000km service, although I'm not entirely sure what they did for that service. |

thanks Sweeks that answers the question.
Do all of the new pickups also comes with ECU's and sensors like the Mazda B2500/BT-50, Ford ranger, Isuzu, Nissan Frontier
and i guess if they come with ECU, they should also have Diagnostics testing for them
another question, I've notice, if not all, but Most of the new diesel vehicles do not come with Pre-Heating before they start..... what kind of technology or system has taken its place

Original Mazda parts are real man from what I hear. I'm not sure of the availability of parts outside.... might get stolen parts from Rock Road Penal.

You will get replacement parts for the vehicle - ie filters, etc. Original parts may be found outside of Southern Sales, but you have to search properly cause fellas would love to sell you parts for B2200.
WRT these diesel pickups, my advice is try to get the original parts for things like sensors. OEM parts for clutches, bushings, belts, etc can be used because these parts wear anyway. More major components - cradle arms, engine parts etc you will only get from Southern Sales. |

Japan Motors does not sell parts or accessories to anyone who did not purchase a vehicle from them, i checked them and first question was "did you buy the vehicle from us"....?....they have adopted TTTL attitude towards selling parts..
as for toyota, they do NOT use syntec oil for their services unless you specifically request it, i have taken my van in for about 2 services so far and its the regular castrol turbomax (black bottle)that is used. what do now is buy my oil and air filters at TTTL and the oil outside, its a little cheaper, and then take it to my mechanic and have him do the change... |

Silva Mera ... TTTL do not use syntec with the diesel engines as far as I know. I believe they use syntec with the gas engines.
Unlike the other dealership, TTTL does not void the warranties if you do not service with them. So it makes sense servicing outside. The original air filter makes a difference with the turbo diesels.
323_Wagon ...the 1000km is basically an oil change and if there's any reported problems they check it out. |
