Freak... that engine now starting to work....

Mrboxman...in addition to all that excellent advice you just got ... check to see that the mileage hasn't been tampered with especially if it's an analog odometer. The numbers will not line up properly. Check the air filter ...if it's really black ... that's know it's an indication of neglect.

Diesel need more maintenance in terms of regular oil changes. If there's a turbo and you don't hear the turbo singing... it might not be working... or not properly maintained.

Good luck

Good advice there on the air filter. However, if you see a vehicle you like, don't hesitate to go back a second time to view it and on that second occasion THEN you can really dig up in the engine and stuff.

I have a book with the service info and intervals for the pickup. I would show this to ppl if they are interested in purchasing.

I understand a lot of the truck people retime the pumps in their fleet to
work better with the lower grade diesel here
they say it is better than boosting the fuel with kerosene

Mr. Boxman - My Friend - My Brother in Tunerity. Leave that Man in G-Lands right deh. (Thats all i wil say about that)

Your best bet is to buy youself an express everyday (Remembering the ones you checked before), as soon as a new ad comes out go to it immediately. it maybe good - it may be bad but Trust me it's the way you NEED to do it in order to get a GOOD 4x4 at a good price. I have personally tried and proven this method many times. IT WORKS!

As for your Budget if you are going to but used, try to buy a 4x4 thats costing you about 90% of your budget. You will have little extras you would need to address, Insurance, Tint, Accessories, minor maintenance, Trinituner/Diesel Boyz STICKER, etc.

$90,000.00 will get you a pretty decent ride. Just remember, in my opinion it's better to have a top condition TBD for example than a Beat out TBS. The Toyotas are Real baddass but its kinda hard to get a good one. Fellaz doh sell them so. Mitsubishis Rock. The model like mines and WagonR (TBA-TBK) is a really tough and economical choice. Note that All of them L200s are proven warriors.

If you can afford it and you going New. Well you got one Excellent choice. Triton / Sportero. The Local basic 4x4 is worth checking out if you on a tight budget. I'd keep away from the Mazda, been reading alot of bad press about them. Plus why But that when you got a Triton or a Sportero in your reach.

Hmmmmm. Man i could go on and on. I am just really happy to help out. Anything i can do for you just let me know ok.

Laterz Saied. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

The older model Mazda is good. Its the New BT-50 that has issues.

Boxman...... in terms of buying... keep looking man...and be patient. I'm sure you can count on anyone of the regular guys here to advise you.

My two cents, if you're buying used... look for something still under warranty if you can afford it... so that if you have any problems you can have it sorted out.

I got my hilux last year June with 24 000km, it was just over two and a half years old. It was still under warranty and I had Toyota run a defect report to see if there was any problems before it came off warranty. Toyota changed some parts... no questions asked and the bill would have been over $2000 if it wasn't for the warranty (I paid $350).

Not sure how the warranty with other dealership works but I'm please with Toyota's.

I think KiD did his somewhere in Gasparillo? Write or Rung?

Oh.. and kerosene is not boosting the CN of the fuel. It's actually reducing it.

Adding kerosene to your diesel engine will sometimes damage your injector pump because it provides less lubrication than diesel.

Kerosene is a heating fuel that is made for use in lamps and other heating applications - and not for use in vehicles or generators.

Diesel fuels have various flow enhancing additives to improve the regulated movement of fuel and sustained high pressure of today's fuel pumps.

This is just part of the explanation without getting confused...

And I may be wrong about kerosene reducing the CN of the diesel in the tank...

Where the gurus on this one? Laughing

that's why all those taxi vehicles give trouble.... and the drivers complain about it being bad fuel.

i've seen taxis putting $10 and $15 kerosene and then putting the rest in diesel... and when they start up to pull off at the station, they give off white smoke and all you smell is kerosene.
kerosene was $1.28/L before and they raised it to $1.50/L because of that same issue were taxis were putting kerosene in the tanks because it was cheaper... yet they still doing the same dotishness.

Confession time.... with my previous 4x2 lux (non turbo)... I did that like once every 2 months ... I'd put like $5 - $10 kerosene per full up. Besides that and Amsoil cetane booster, never used any other additives and that van worked really well with no excess smoking.

I honestly think the trick to this is doing it in moderation. The taxi drivers probably over did it.

These days I've used Amsoil treatments with the newer lux but not too regularly since I've been warned by the seller and my mechanic. And I'll admit I've used kerosene in the new lux but not very often. If I do, it'll be less than $5 per fill up.

ive used the amsoil cetane boost in a mitsu l300 and i found it did wonders
it quieted the rattling, got better mileage and less smoke

but i used it VERRYY sparingly
like about 1 oz per fillup
