WagonR, you could check K Wilson (624-3045) on wrightson road to get the AC serviced. I personally like the quality of his work
BTW, I saw the L2 in POS this morning going across duke street. The girl looking good....

Saied, me thinks me would like to get directions to the cane roads...
Sweeks, by chance are you in the IT/database field? |

323 Yup I'm into I.T..
Wagon w.r.t. to the a/c, if you don't get through with Wilson, you can always check Supa Kool on the Montrose main road in Chaguanas 665-8729.

Boy i could slap yuh. you doh know my number....
And i got mines fixed by an aircon shop about 4 building away from me. them fella does hook me up nice. he even went around and help me get the compressor. he charged $350 to change it and gas back up. About gettingit colder. Yes there is a thermostat ans he adjusted it to bite but i Anisha dosent handle the ac too well so i had him turn it down a but.
So you can compare.
he can organize a new compressor for $1400 i believe he said.
But i got a used one (Like New) for $300 so i went with that.
Hope you get it fixed. I know i HATE driving with the windows down.
Plus Rainy season coming up.
Oh i Faiz in Marabella ad they said they didn't have any. (I was asking about the Original) he told me they can order it for me Cost $10,000.00
Well again I feeling real Joy to by an L200 Owner right about now. The best of both Worlds. |

Hello fellas i need some help, i just bought a b13 with a cd17 diesel and it's a 5 fw manual.....it's my first diesel and first manual car...i have some questions:
1) Will shifting into gears quickly cause any damage to the engine?....or
do i have to rev. it to over 3000rpm before i shift?
2) Is it ok to go up hills on 3rd and 4th gears?
3) Do i have to drive in 5th gear most of the time or 4th...when do i
gear into 5th gear?
4) Is np oil good does any one ues it?
I was going to ask more maintainance questions but i read the past post on those.....so far it's the best car i ever had.....i'm getting 565km and the tank was just under quarter it took $40 ,i use my a/c when i have to and hardly ever cross 80km, and i used the penray diesel treatment it's makes a big diffrence. Thanks i'm looking forward for your input....great thread....it should have it's own section! |

Freak... Here's the results from the 3 ounces of acetone added into the diesel.
NB: my driving conditions weren't the same since I drove extremely hard and sat in lots of traffic.
I've gone from 8.33km/l to ......to 8.5 km/l. The van felt more powerful.
I may have to test again under my normal driving conditions. Will keep you posted.
P.S. What's the difference with cetane and octane. What does what?

Sniper, welcome to the world of diesel.
Here are some answers to your questions...
1. Shifting quickly will not damage gears once you are mashing your clutch properly. Normally you wouldnt rev your engine when you're changing gears
2. Its ok to go up hills in any gear once the vehicle is moving at the appropriate speed for that gear. Normally to go up a hill you just gear down a gear... ie 4th -> 3rd. In some cases you may need to go down 2 gears if its a steep hill ie 4th -> 2nd.
3. 5th gear is for cruising. You'd normally go to 5th on the highway so you dont overwork your engine by staying in 4th
4. I personally do not use NP. The oil you use goes down to personal preference. There was a discussion a few pages back about the oils we use in the diesel engines. You'll find some useful info there.
The first three questions you asked are based on handling the gearbox. Since this is your first manual it'll take some time to get accustom to when to use which gear, when to change etc... I'd recommend you go driving to get practice. Not just down the highway... take a drive to maracas ... over the lady young, places where you'll have to shift gears. Do this a few times and you'll learning how to control the gears. |

|
no it will not Damage ur gears....But a way of knowing when to shift is, u can listen to the engine.....
when the engine sounding free and like it callin for a higher hear, then u can shift.....
u dont need to Go all the way to 3000rpm on normall roads and normall driving,,,u can shift abt 2500rpm. |

|
as i said B4, u can listen to the engine....if it soundin like it Straining and the car slowing down..u down shift to a lower gear like 4 > 3.... depends on the how steep the hill is u may even have to down to 2 or 1....
But if u are approaching a hill, what u normally do is, try to build some speed B4 u reach the incline.

3) Do i have to drive in 5th gear most of the time or 4th...when do i
gear into 5th gear?
|
well as 323 said..5th Gear is for cruising on d highway, so the engine will kinda relax and drive...its also to save Fuel in the long runs |

Cetane is for use with a diesel engine while octane is used for gasoline engines.
Octane is an alkane with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)6CH3.
Octane ratings are ratings used to represent the anti-knock performance of petroleum-based fuels (octane is less likely to prematurely combust under pressure than heptane), It is an important constituent of gasoline.
Hexadecane (also called cetane) is an alkane hydrocarbon with the chemical formula CH3(CH2)14CH3. Cetane is often used as a short-hand for cetane number, a measure of the combustibility of diesel fuel. Cetane ignites very easily under compression; for this reason, it is assigned a cetane number of 100, and serves as a reference for other fuel mixtures.
Cetane rating of diesel is not equivalent to gasoline's octane rating. This is because gasoline's desirable property is to resist autoignition to prevent engine knocking whereas diesel's desirable property is to autoignite. |

Welcome little diesel car brodda... Just maintain that gurl on time and you okay.
Wrt your questions - just drive the car and you will learn for yourself what gears will do what. Remember: diesel engines are better for torque, so your shifts will be lower than a gasoline engine.
Nice ot know there are some diesel cars around |
