....just to let you know......my father was involved in that accident. a guy apparently fell asleep and broad sided him before running into the CR-V head-on.

sweeks, if you have anymore pics, please send it to me, thanks.

my dad is okay, but the guy hit him from the front wheel and both doors. he sustained a cut under his eye due to the door mirror's glass hitting him (another reason why i always drive with my glass up on the stretch).

other than that, i'm good. the old girl is there, the oil change made such a big difference that i'm never going to wait that long again. cleaned out the indside as usual, washed the mud guards and that was it.

....what....yuh thought i would actually wash the van... Rolling Eyes

Hey WagonR.
I am sorry to hear that your dad was involved in that accident
I am glad to hear that he is felling better and ok.
I wish there was some way for Sweeks to know who it was.
We should really get those stickers going so we can identify each other and people we care about. Small world isn't it, that one of us was right there.
I said a little pray for your dad and the family.
Take care big Bro!
Wink

Wagon_R good to know your dad is doing ok. The accident seemed pretty bad from what I saw. I don't have any more pics. As the crowd started to thicken I didn't stick around.

fellas i need alluh expertise ...here this, i have a new model 4x2 hilux, it now doing about 27000kms...hear this strange problem i get occasionally...and tell me what you think might be the cause..

about 3 weeks ago, i changed oil and oil filter (orignal oil and filter from toyota), the next day, i started the van , it warmed up for about 5 mins and then i drove off as i shifted from 1st into 2nd, the van cut off, dash board lights come on, i shifted properly so there was no reason for the van to stall, it was so strange, the engine just died.....so i switched off and bounced starter and it started again no problem and it worked fine for the rest of the day, so i thought it was a one off incident...the next day when i started again in the morning and i driving off, the engine dies agin when i am shifting from 1st into 2nd...i start back up and she runs fine, it has happended about twice again since, so does anyone have any idea what could be happening here....

Wow.... Some of the other guys may be able to say better. But sounds like ECU or it Haunted. The thing is that it only happens in the morning, on cold start. hmmmmm

How did you shift ? Slowly ? Abruptly ? Gave it alot of gas ? Did it buck before cutting off ?

That really is a weird problem... Only thing I am thinking is that the gearbox would be cold when you start... Unless it's something related to the electronics

Wagon R, glad to know your father is doing ok.

Silver Mera, it does sound like your problem may be ECU related. If its still under warranty carry it back to TTTL. They have a habit of saying they not going to fix a problem under warranty if you start to work on it yourself.

Sweeks, good job in helping out a bredren spirit. All the more reason to buy a 4x4.

Now for the bad news... I went to a river in Blanchisures friday and spent the night into saturday. The fellas I went with insisted I dont drive the new hilux in the river... So we ended up driving an older model (TAY) one in the river. So the girl hasn't had an adventure as yet...
I'll post the pics of that one in the river when I get a chance.

Silver Mera ... if it's under warranty, get TTTL to check to out the problem. Another tuner, Team Loco had a problem with his IMV 4x2, it was related to his fuel system. It took him a while but TTTL finally got it sorted out.

The bad news is that I suspect the new IMVs aren't as reliable nor robust as the older ones. The older ones also has less electronics, so that's one less worry.

It might take TTTL a while to figure this out. Be patient but be sure to stick on them.

In times like these, no matter what anyone says about RORO, I still want a warranty from the firm breads.

323_Wagon_Dude ... letter the older lux do the adventurous stuff. The news one a little too pretty and parts are a little too expensive for that kind of thing Smile

Thanx fellas, i will take it in to TTTL, i shifted smoothly, no bucking or anything, the damn thing jus ketch ah vaps and cut off.....steupps...i really beginning to think these new model pick ups only have looks but performance and reliability was sacrificed.....i'll follow up with a post after i take it to TTTL.... at 20,000 i had to change the clutch release bearing, thank god it was covered under the warranty.....

Silva Mera... do some research on the IMVs to get a background on it. It'll basically tell you what the project was about and what their goals were. Also check some of the reviews.

Freak... I'm averaging a 15% increase in fuel consumption based on the addition of the acetone to the diesel and the new air filter.

However I need to work the numbers again i.e. redo the calculations. This may not be 100% accurate because this wasn't done under my normal driving conditions. I drove harder than usual, did a bit of offroading and was caught up in a lot of traffic to and from Mayaro.

I'll have to continue montoring and give you an update by next week.

Hog... PM me a contact number for you. I want to know where you got your filters when you serviced the Triton.

I know what you're saying about the black... it's pressure but looks best when clean.
