1. When next you fill up reset the odometer, or make a note of your odometer reading (A).
2. Run the van till you reach about quarter tank, and then go an fill up again. Take note of the odometer reading (B) again and work out the difference in terms of km (B-A).
3. Take note of how much diesel you buy (C). Divide that by $.150 to get the number of litres (D) you actually purchased.
4. Finally take the mileage you did (B-A) and divide it by the number of litres (D) you purchased. That should give you your consumption in terms of kilometers per litres.
Do it a couple times to get the average consumption.
There's also a couple of other web sites that you can used to to convert to miles per gallon. Check it out.

I feel you need a cutarse eh...
Or is is bush bath
Amsoil and Redline both have diesel additives... Make your pick.
I used to use the Redline but switched to the Amsoil.
Redline used to work. Amsoil is more expensive but...
Does this clear it up Or you still need the cutarse |

One correction
3. Take note of how much diesel you buy (C). Divide that by $.150 to get the number of litres (D) you actually purchased.
should read
3. Take note of how much diesel you buy (C). Divide that by $1.50 to get the number of litres (D) you actually purchased. |

Alternatively, you can look at the pump when you're done to see how much litres was pumped. |

Kid what about a diagnostic to check your oxygen sensors?
Didn't you get the fuel pump etc serviced recently?
323_Wagon .. yes you're right, you can check it that way too.

KiD, what about your air filter? Might need changing / cleaning as well.
I changed mine 2 weeks ago and noticed an improvement in performance afterwards. Remember diesels are pretty sensitive to things like that.
Anyways, this filter should last the rest of the year cause I can get two washes out of it. |

Kid, Freak's suggestion is even better. I was under the impression that you already had gone a general service.
Freak what filter are you using? Original?
Ever used K&N? Been considering it or going back Original. What say you? |

sweeks I am using a Sakura air filter - it's really dense fibre - not paper - and is washable. I pay $55.00 for the filter and wash it twice before discarding. The Sakura filter resembles the original filter's quality closely.
So no I dont think I will be going to buy a K & N drop in filter soon.
Maybe if I can get around to
1) sourcing one,
2) better performance / fuel economy outways cost factor. |

Sweeks are you using K&N?
I am using Sakura also but i want to go K&N.
What you guys thing.
Fitting a K&N cone in the original air box.
Filter costing approx $500.00 with 1000000 mile filter life. |

Freak i never know you could wash Sakura filters!
Doesn't washing it cause the pores in the fiber close up? |

Saied, you can wash this one... and then let it air dry - done it with the last couple filters. Mechanic showed me how to do it.
Don't know about the fibre getting damaged or closed up. Never seen a problem with the performance of the filter after washing - only when it gets durdee... |

| isnt the air filter, its a bit dirty but when i was testing different possibilities i removed the air filter fo a short period and there was no difference in the amt of smoke coming out. i did notice that before i changed the fuel filter i got alot better mileage but when that hole developed i had to change it, the filter was also incredibly dirty. so im guessing that the clogged fuel filter was giving less fuel and when i changed it it started getting more but its still pumping too much overall. |

Considering the K&N or going back to the original. Both will cost me around the same $$ (because I'm picking up the K & N in the US). Remember a K&N is not recommended for use under dusty/off road conditions. If I get the K&N, I'll also get a Sakura as a backup for the trail runs... (if I ever decide to go on any trail
With regards to my existing Sakura filter, I've gotten it blown out with a compressor. Never washed it though, just like Saied, I didn't know you could do that.
The things I've learnt on Trinituner !!!
It's been in there almost a year now and definitely needs to be changed out.
KID... hang in there... we'll get you sorted out. |

Sweeks. I discovered a method of using the K&N in the L200 where in can run anywhere.
The airbox in the L200 is designed to trap dust and collect it before it reaches the filter. I so i am going to modify the stem of the filter to fit in the original position. if i did mount the K&N without the box i would suck dust like hell.
KiD Gimme the instructions on posting vids on youtube nah boy i go organise some goodies.
Freak that is some good $$$ saving tips you share they padnah.[/b] |
