Ah yes... Took the ole gurl for a run Friday - Fillup at Peake's then to Maraval to pickup wifey.
Stopped Chaguanas for food, then straight to Avocat, then to Fyzabad...
Thru the oil field roads to Santa Flora then to Erin.
From Erin to Cap-de-Ville, back to Point, La Brea, Sando and home (Tunapuna)
210 km on 1/3 tank of diesel. The run took about 4 hours... inclusive of food stop.
Two runs to Chaguanas and back on Sat & Sun, and misc runs (mom, grocery, etc) took the mileage to 356km.
Filled up at Peake's this morning - $61.00 ~ 40 Litres.
However, in other news, I noticed some oil leaking by the turbo. So I will *have* to sort that out before I leave for Bago on Friday. |

Kid... thanks....I've got a hardcopy of this printed and bounded. Yes there's a sensor there.
Let me know where you get the sensor.
Anyone got chance to readup on acetone as an additive in diesels? |

Freak... once I get the pure acetone from a good source I'll try it. Probably 2 ounces to a tank full of diesel. I'll even try it in the RAV4. I also want to check the Amzoil products to see what the active chemicals are.
I was speaking to someone about it, he drives a Forrester and he was saying that he uses ethanol regularly. |

RoadHog a neighbour of mine has a Triton and is having problems sourcing the filters. I know you did a recent service. Where did you source the filters from? |

Freak as long as it's 100% pure... it should work.
Wagon_r was a black PBR Forrester? If it was, that's the same guy. He has the ethanol in a Yuasa Battery water 1 litre bottle.
Earlier on, I mentioned that I've used small amounts of kerosene in my diesel. Never had any problems and never had to service any part of the fuel system either (knock on wood). |

How you planning on sorting it out. Listening for the details. I got the same problem with the L200 but only on hard highway runs. |

WRT amsoil, I know someone using the cetane boost additive and he says his fuel ecomony has increased and he's getting more power on his frontier.
I'll try to get my hands on a bottle or two and try it. I also want to try the amsoil diesel fuel additive.
Anyone knows where I can find this in the Port of Spain area? |

Freak... thanks for the acetone.
As is you're getting approx 8.9km/l
With the 1kz-te, I get 8.33km/l. Once the tank gets down to below quarter, I'll add the acetone and then monitor from there. I'm using the 2 ounces to 10 gallons of diesel. I may be heading to Mayaro this weekend, so it'll be ideal to monitor it.
I'm still to check the active ingredient in Amsoil. |

Shucks I thought you woulda tell me
I going by the mechanic to see if is something serious. I know I hit her up real hard last week - I was down Palo Seco and had to reach Chaguanas in half hr... I took 40 minutes...
The ole gurl get good rough up on the oil roads, and them abused on the highway real bad. I apologised afterwards...
Anyways, oil change due this week - I am considering switching back to 25W-50 oil. Any brands other than the Castrol Ultramax you guys can recommend
I won't mind switching cause I realise my oil changes are down to about 7-9 week intervals.
Getting a lil irregular results with the 15W40. Better play it safe and treat the ole gurl nicer... |

Once I drive on country roads and the like I get great fuel economy, highway driving is my killer...
I dont think Amsoil lists their product ingredients on the bottle though... |

Freak Hook a man up with some Medicine for the L2 nah boy.
Plus a Mechanic told me not to worry about it (Oil On Turbo) because it's not leaking it just kinda sweats when you run hard. Not a New van you know. i does monitor my engine oil level and it doesn't drop so i just use a lil degreaser spray and it's good. As for oil I using Ultra Duty 15-40 working well changing at 5000K routinely. |

Saeid... let's see if I can help.
1. When next you fill up reset the odometer, or make a note of your odometer reading (A).
2. Run the van till you reach about quarter tank, and then go an fill up again. Take note of the odometer reading (B) again and work out the difference in terms of km (B-A).
3. Take note of how much diesel you buy (C). Divide that by 1.5 ($1.50 per litre) to get the number of litres (D) you actually purchased.
4. Finally take the mileage you did (B-A) and divide it by the number of litres (D) you purchased. That should give you your consumption in terms of kilometers per litres.
Do it a couple times to get the average consumption.
There's also a couple of other web sites that you can used to to convert to miles per gallon. Check it out.
