some more work done on the prado. still wasnt cooling enough so i replaced the radiator cap, the old one was keeping the pressure but was completely rusted. noticed an immediate difference. had the oil changed to castrol turbomax 15w 40...well she workin now! accelerates alot smoother and with less effort. the engine itself runs a bit quieter and all the lost power has been recovered. put in a bottle of redline fuel treatment as well it smokes less but its still noticeable. also noticed that it only smokes excessively when the a/c is on. also did an engine wash, underwash, oil spray, and greasing. There are a couple things that still need some work. still overheating but nowhere near as much as it used to( illl try redline water wetter) , still smoking though not as much, and sometimes i hear this rattling sound from the engine, happened while i was 'testing' the performance and it slowed momentarily before accelerating. the rattling only lasts about 1 second though.

Quest: Does you lux have a strainer? I don't think so.

Sweeks, it doesn't have the strainer... I was just curious on how would the strainer be cleaned.

I carried the hilux by Ziebart to do the rust proofing yesterday. The did a pretty good job. The under coating cuts the road noise practically to nil... now i'm hearing the wind blowing over the top...

Spray on tray liner next. Does anyone have the Rhino liner from Ziebart?

I've got the rhyno liner but I'm not sure if Ziebart did it. Good investment.

How much was the undercoating?

Kid did you get the radiator flush/recored? Make sure you don't have any blockage in the radiator. And make sure to change the silicone oil in the clutch fan.

The rattling from the engine might be the timing belt. What's the mileage? Has the timing belt been changed? It's suppose to be at 150 000km.

well the mileage is around 154 000km but the sticker on the engine says the timing belt was changed at 112 000km. I still have to check the radiator properly.

This was the price break down from Ziebart

Normal Undercoating: $995 + vat
Sound Barrier Undercoating: $1550 + vat
Full Rust Proofing: $1550 + vat (supposed to include Normal undercoating)

I took the sound barrier undercoating and full rust proof so they deducted the undercoating price for the full rust proof and charged me $1550+vat for the sound barrier... Came up to $2100+vat

They quoting me $3000 + vat for the rhino lining... It might get another spray on liner for less somewhere in las lomas.

Saied, Ziebart (623-2813) is located in sea lots. Come off the west bound highway by Bhagwansingh, then follow the road that passing in front of Bhagwansingh and heading west, you'll make two corners and Ziebart is on the right side of the road. You'll see their sign.

Sweeks, they said the hilux tray will cost $3000 + vat. The rhino liner can be as much as 1/4" thick.

I've done other things by them, they are costly, but their quality of work is very impressive.

RoadHog... you can possibly get the air filter blown out with a compressor. The liftspan of the original filters is very long. I've seen some original filters that's even washable.
