| fellas i have a lil problem with the prado. it driving good no problems nice idle on a cold engine but when it gets to the normal operating temperature the idle does drop down like it want to cut off and go right back up every 2 seconds. it only does this in gear though not in park or neutral but everything else. any ideas? |

Kid ... I'm not 100% sure but sounds like a sensor problem. Run a diagnostic and see if any of the sensors faulty on the 1kz-te engine. BTW How old is the vehicle?
Saied & Wagon R.... Respect.....now that's what a true 4x4 work horse looks like. I also appreciate a clean interior. The only thing I don't get is the red mudguards.

KiD, yeah run a diagnostic check on it.
funny though on how it's only happening in a forward or backward gear... |

Just a little teaser of the remains of some mud and rain while having sum off road fun most of the mud got washed away though due to heavy rain. the real action to follow.
On a side note all the problems with the prado started popping up about a month ago right after an oil change. its has been running hotter, and this thing with the idle never occurred before. i also notice the idle drop ONLY occurs when the engine is hot. if it is raining or cool it never happens. and i believe the new oil has the engine running hotter. they used Quaker State FCL Diesel Oil. im thinking of doing an oil change tomorrow any suggested brands? Thinking about NP Super/Heavy Duty Oil. Whats the difference with these types? |

KiD, havoline ursa premium TDX 15w-40
it's what the firm uses on the prado..
other than that, you could use castrol syntec blend 4x4 formula 15w-40 (in the grey bottle).
don't use any of those heavy duty SAE50 sheit... that's for old diesel engines without turbo etc.
the havoline/castrol is for turbocharged diesel engines. |

....if is one thing i always keep is a clean interior.....no matter how bad the outside is, inside always up to mark.......excpet during a rally of course..
...the red mud guard are orig. SPARCO mud guards and watch any int'l rally car or truck (think Paris Dakar)....that's what they run, that's what i have.
...and believe it or not.....they keep the van clean than the orig. as they are bigger and wider, esp. seeing that i run slightly larger wheel than stock.
further, if you wanted to see pics, all you have to do was click my 2nr ride <----- |

Cool thing bro... I knew I've seen similar mudguards similar to yours somewhere before. I believe that they keep the van cleaner. I run 31x10.5 and they're a bit too wide for the original mudguards |

Johnny... thanks for the info. At what mileage did you get your fuel system serviced? Do you find it noisier now?
I did 187 000km on my previous hilux and never did any servicing to the fuel system. |
