iPhone MMS has already been enabled on the newly released iPhone OS 3.0 Beta 5 firmware by members of MacMagazine.com.br.

Luckily enough a few hours of work for the Breno Masi, the team MacMagazine, to make the MMS on the new beta. Smile

The fantastic is the Network setup screen now allows a complete configuration of MMS, as you can see the third screenshot above.

The act requires the publication of a new .ipcc with a key that activates the MMS. Sending for the iPhone should be done with the first beta of iTunes 8.2, as the current no longer allows it.

Sleepers.net has announced Kryptes, an alternative package handler to Cydia for jailbroken iPhones.

Kryptes is a new, lightweight, package handler that was designed with the end user in mind. We are very excited to announce its release and hope the community appreciates all the hard work that we have put into this. We do understand that there are going to be several questions the Community might have for us, so we will try to answer most of them in this post.

Q: Are you trying to compete with Cydia and Installer?
A: No, we have tried to reach out to both of the developers for each one of these handlers several times. We have been continually shot down when we asked if we could become a default repository/source. IT was as if we did not exist, when we feel we have given much to the community.

Q: So why did you produce a Application, when there are already 2 prominent applications that exist that are similiar to Kryptes?
A: We have over 600 developers in our repository, we felt to give them the most exposure in the Community we were left with no choice, but to build our own Package Handler. If we would have been accepted as a default repository with the other Package Handlers the build of Kryptes would not have happened.

You can install Kryptes by adding the Sleepers.net repo to Cydia and install the "A Alternative to Cydia and Installer" package. We are not aware of how safe or stable this application is, to get more information on Kryptes use the link below...

A screenshot is circulating online that shows an iPhone temperature warning if your device overheats.

According to Apple's Knowledge Base it is a real screen even though few have ever seen it.

Operate iPhone 3G in a place where the temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might temporarily shorten battery life
or cause iPhone 3G to temporarily stop working properly.

Store iPhone 3G in a place where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave iPhone 3G in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can
exceed this range.

If the interior temperature of iPhone 3G exceeds normal operating temperatures, you may experience the following as it attempts to regulate its temperature:
- iPhone 3G stops charging
- Display dims
- Weak cellular signal
- Temperature warning screen appears with the message "iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it" (see image below)

This message appears when the operating temperature has become too hot. This is a safety mechanism that protects the components of your iPhone 3G. If this message appears, you should turn iPhone 3G off, move it to a cooler environment, and allow it to cool before resuming use.

Note: When this message appears, iPhone 3G may still be able to make emergency calls.

Some conditions and activities that may activate the Temperature warning message:
- Leaving iPhone 3G in a car on a hot day.
- Leaving it in direct sunlight for extended amounts of time.
- Using certain applications in hot conditions or direct sunlight for long periods of time, such as GPS tracking in a car on a sunny day or listening to music while in direct sunlight.

GriP is a new notification system for the iPhone and iPod touch. It is similar to Growl for the Mac.

The system will keep you updated on every email you receive, system memory, and more. The deb package file is available to download from the iSpazio repository but it is still in early beta.

Apple has enabled push synchronization of notes via Mobile Me for the iPhone OS 3.0 firmware, according to an iSpazio report.

Just write a note in the iPhone, and it will be automatically sent to the server and consequently display a window on your computer that notifies you of the synchronize notes. Once you approve of the sync you can find your notes in the Mail application as a MobileMe Note

Pictures of the Palm Pre retail boxed have been leaked online along with the date of big announcement by Palm and Sprint, according to the BoyGeniusReport.

We just got a tip from a very proven tipster who informed us that Palm and Sprint were set to make a big announcement in the Wall Street Journal on May 19th. They said that there’s a very good chance of Palm and Sprint announcing the Pre release date then. Confusing, eh? Well, if we were betting boys, our money would be on Tuesday the 1

Apple is now selling the iPhone 3G online for new AT&T customers in what is likely an attempt to clear inventory ahead of the next iPhone's release.

The Apple Online Store only supports new AT&T customers at this time. If you are an existing AT&T customer, you can reserve your iPhone online for pickup at an Apple Retail Store.

The new iPhone will not be announced at WWDC rather Steve Jobs will return to announce it in late June, according to a report by Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster.

Apple just recently announced that Phil Schiller would lead the WWDC keynote and Munster believes that this address will focus only on iPhone 3.0 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

“Although this may raise some concern among investors that Steve Jobs will not return [at all],” wrote Munster, “we continue to expect his return to the company by the end of June.”

Munster believes that a second event is in store which will be jam packed with news.

“We expect Apple to host a special event in late June or early July to launch a family of iPhones. We continue to expect multiple models, possibly a high-end iPhone with improved specs from the current version and a low-end version with lower capacity and fewer features along with a reduced pricing plan. Such a model could also be used in Apple’s launch of the iPhone into China as soon as the end of summer ‘09.

That sounds more like an internet/firewall related issue to me. Double check your firewall settings to see if iTunes is allowed through it.

I believe that would be a feature in 3.0 on the iPhone itself. Before then though,

Apple may be adding support for iPhone applications to run in the background according to a new report by Business Insider.

The publication has heard that background support might be implemented in two possible ways:
- Apple might allow users to select two apps that can run in the background.
- Apple might selectively allow some apps to run in the background. We assume that developers could apply for permission to run in the background, and that Apple might approve or deny them based on the resources they need and how well they behave with the operating system's stability.

John Gruber from Daring Fireball has chimed in on this possibility saying, "I heard something very similar from a decent (but second-hand) source back in January during Macworld Expo. What I heard then was that Apple was working on a vastly improved dock for your most-frequently used apps, and that there’d be one special icon position where you could put a third-party app to enable it to run in the background. Take it with a grain of salt, though: my source in January described it as an idea Apple was working on, nothing more. The major limiting factor right now is RAM. There just isn’t much left for third-party processes on the current hardware’s 128 MB."

Email 'n Walk lets you compose emails on the go while viewing the road ahead through your iPhone camera.

To send an email while on the move, just open up Email ' Walk and enter the subject and message text while a transparent view shows the world around you via your iPhone's camera. Then, just hit "send" to send the message to the iPhone mail app, pick your recipients, and send away!

The application is currently offered for free in the Apple App Store.

UPDATE: Looks like it wasn't free for wrong. Its now available for .99c

Apple has sent an email to iPhone developers asking for help in creating a high volume test environment for Push Notifications.

As a developer actively working with iPhone OS 3.0 beta, we would like your help in testing the Apple Push Notification service. We have selected a pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0 to create a high-volume test environment for our servers.

To participate developers are asked to:
1. Download the pre-release version of the Associated Press app for iPhone OS 3.0 from the iTunes Store via your desktop by entering this unique redemption code in the 'Redeem' section of iTunes, found under the 'Quick Links' section: ????????????

This unique redemption code and the functionality of the application will expire in seven days.

2. Install the application on a development device running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 by synching it to iTunes. Make sure to accept notifications when prompted after installation. This application can only be installed on devices running iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5.

3. When you first run the app, choose U.S. English as your region when prompted. The U.S. English region will receive alerts, the Canadian English region will not. For purposes of the test, AP will be sending a high-volume of real news alerts.

4. If you do not receive notifications from the app within 48 hours after installation, let us know.

Apple is considering launching multiple iPhone models each differentiated by software, rather than hardware capabilities, according to a Register Hardware report.

Yair Reiner, an analyst at Oppenheimer, recently met with several unnamed Apple executives who, he claimed, said: “[The] iPhone is still in its early days and could gain share by: providing more functionality, lowering prices, growing geographically, or segmenting the market with different models.”

Reiner told Register Hardware today that – when he pressed the firm for further details – the staffers said: “Segmentation would focus on software.”

The article goes on to suggest possible configurations of the iPhone distinguished by software such as a 'YouTube' iPhone model with video capture, editing and sharing capabilities.

Leaked photos of the ZuneX (ZX-1000) may be a Microsoft handheld device that combines the Zune with the Xbox, according to a Gizmodo report.

Mimbee.tv has acquired some photographs and a detailed spec list for the new device. Notice that the specs list a SIM Card tray which could possibly allow for phone functionality and 3G Internet services.

• 4-inch display at 640x363 resolution
• Custom Intel LV Atom DualCore 733MHz processor
• Custom Nvidia BLowFish chipset
• 128MB RAM
• 40 hour music, 14 hours of video, 9 hours of gaming and 6 hours of gaming with the wireless on
• 4 analog buttons, 2 shoulder buttons, an analog stick attachment
• 32GB flash storage
• Support for Bluetooth headphones
• SIM Card tray (it's a phone! Maybe!)
• Xbox Live Arcade Games
• ZuneX Originals
• OnLive Ready game streaming (now we're just getting a little ridiculous)
• WMV, H.264, MPEG-4 and DivX support

__________
Apple has published a support article explaining why your Apple Earbuds might shock you. They state that this occurrence is not limited to Apple hardware and could happen while using any brand of earbuds.

What is happening?
When using headphones in areas where the air is very dry, it is easy to build up static electricity and possible for your ear to receive a small electrostatic discharge from the headphones. Receiving a static shock from a pair of earbuds does not necessarily indicate an issue with the iPod, iPhone, or earbuds.

This condition is very similar to dragging your feet across a carpet and receiving a static shock by touching a door knob. However, instead of the static charge building up on your body, the charge builds up on the device that the earbuds are connected to. Likewise, instead of the static buildup discharging through your finger when you touch a door knob, it discharges through the earbuds.

Note: This condition is not limited to Apple hardware and static can potentially build up on almost any hardware and could be discharged using any brand of earbuds.

Why does static build up on my device?
- Static buildup on your electronic device is largely due to the environment that it is used in. Certain environments and actions can encourage static electricity buildup.

- Very low humidity (dry) environments are conducive for static buildup.

- Very windy environments are conducive for static buildup.

- Taking your device in and out of your pocket can create a static charge.

- Jogging or exercising with your device can cause a static charge.

- Clothes made with synthetic fibers (like nylon) can easily become charged with static electricity.

What else can be done to alleviate static build up on my device?
To minimize the risks of electrostatic discharge from the headphones, avoid using the headphones in extremely dry environments or touch a grounded unpainted metal object before inserting the headphones. Static electricity can be controlled by a number of different methods.

Indoors
- Try raising the moisture level in the air of the local environment by using a portable humidifier or adjusting the humidity control on your air conditioner.

- There are a number of anti-static sprays that can be sprayed into the air that can be used to reduce static.

- If you have dry skin, try anti-static hand lotion.

Try wearing different clothes. Try clothes with natural fibers since synthetic fibers are more likely to hold a static charge.

Outdoors
- Try to keep your device out of the wind by using a case, or leaving it in your bag or pocket.

- Avoid removing your device from your pockets frequently as rubbing the device on certain materials can cause a static build up.

AppleiPhoneApps has heard detailed information on the specs and release date of the next generation iPhone from a source that they deem reputable.

We have checked the source’s credentials to the best of our ability and at this point deem the source as reputable. Of course we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the source’s claims since Apple will neither confirm nor deny any future product releases, including if a new phone will even be released!

The specifications provided are listed below. Which do you think are realistic?

- 32GB and 16GB to replace current capacities
- $199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
- 3.2 Megapixel camera
- Video recording & editing capabilities
- Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
- Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
- OLED screen
- 1.5X The battery life
- Double the RAM and processing power
- Built-in FM transmitter
- Apple logo on the back to light up
- Rubber-tread backing
- Sleeker design
- Built-in compass
- Revolutionary combination of the camera, GPS, compass, and Google maps to identify photo and inform about photo locations.
- Turn by turn directions
- July 17th, 2009 release date

A screenshot has been leaked of the mobile OS Nokia plans on launching around the end of 2010: Maemo Harmattan.

An image of the homescreen published by MobileCrunch depicts one big vertically scrollable page filled with numerous user selectable widgets. The widgets are integrated with each other and the OS.

Only the top third of the image has a blue background color. This is the area visible on screen at one time. The background remains still while the widgets float above it as the user slides them across the screen.

Curiously, the ad widgets we disclosed earlier today are absent from this screenshot. Be it that Nokia moves forward with the ad widget concept and carriers embrace it (remember: the idea is that in exchange for ads on the homescreen, customers get a discount of some sort), ad-enabled handsets will have ad units locked in place between widgets.

It has been awhile since we’ve run antivirus software on our Macs. Most Mac antivirus software has traditionally been buggy or slowed our machines to a crawl. That’s not to say that we’re complacent on security issues. In fact, we have ClamAV sitting in our applications folder ‘just in case’. We’re probably not alone in this sense.

McAfee and Symantec are taking the unnecessary protection one step further by readying security software for the iPhone. We’re not sure what specific advantages this software would provide as there hasn’t even been a proof of concept iPhone virus yet and Apple already allows you to adjust security settings on the iPhone. Furthermore, the API’s probably won’t allow the low level access that these types of applications traditionally require. (Last year a fake version of McAfee also came out for Jailbroken iPhones - see image)

We don’t really feel the need. With Android Linux hitting photo frames, perhaps antivirus makers should focus their attention there.

Intego also released iPhone antivirus software last year. We’re not sure how well it is doing.

^ you need to create an iTunes account to use the Apple App Store, i believe in the latest version of itunes, when you are creating a new account there is an option to select "No Credit Card" so that way you can get your account. Good luck.
