1. Yes
2. I don't know why you should need any instructions. Just open iTunes, dock iPhone, check for updates - and follow the onscreen instructions. Leave it docked during the process, and read what's on the screen.
I did it that way and had no problems updating to 2.0. I had nothing to do except sitting and watching.
If you are worrying about bricking your iPhone, this may be a result of people undocking the phone as it is still going through the "restart" phases. My phone actually restarted 3 times (two of which showed the "slide for emergency" and the third and final time showed "Phone is activated" and can be "undocked". |

as I know it, that is the case. Personally I would wait until the Dev Team or who ever releases the 2.0 Unlocking software & a proper walk through along with it |

what yall think about this |
Those are good, however, would recommend bestskinsever.com. Get a full body kit fo the iphone (2G and 3G) for 5.99$ plus shipping ($2.25 for one, gets cheaper for more, and free if you order 3).
It's cheaper and just as good. |

iPhone 101: Hold your ".com" button for a second:
http://www.tuaw.com/2008/07...-com-button-for-a-second/
| Quote: | If you are running the new 2.0 firmware on your iPhone or iPod touch, you might not have noticed a new handy shortcut in Safari.
When you type in your address, hold down the ".com" button to get a selection of 3 other domain name endings: ".net," ".edu," and ".org." When you tap on any of the endings, it will be automatically inserted in the address bar. |
iPhone 3G's final build price: just $174.33

iphone 3G's purchased without a contract are NOT unlocked, they are simply not witha 2 year contract. they are still tied exclusively to AT&T or whatever carrier it was sold from..
ONLY Hong Kong and Italy offer truely unlocked aka "authorized unlocked" iphones. they require the sim card from the carrier that sold it to activate with itunes, and after you can use them with any sim card, if you update teh firmware, you will need to use the original sim that came with the phone/carrier to activate again...
these phones, even though they are unlocked, they are still tied to contracts in most cases..
uoi will know an authorized unlocked iPhone 3G by its model number: MB489T/A, MB496T/A, MB500T/A as per Apples website.

PWNAGE 2.0

Here you go.
We’ll be releasing a more official announcement soon, but we wanted to get the tool out there. We sincerely hope you enjoy using it as much as we enjoyed making it
Update: Just to clear up some confusion over what this actually does: yes, it jailbreaks and unlocks older iPhones, and jailbreaks iPhone 3Gs and iPod Touches. We only support the 2.0 firmwares.
P.S: looks like there aren’t enough TCP ports on that server, so _BigBoss_ has generously offered to mirror it. |
N.B. Mac OS X download only (as of this posting)

Beware iPhone App Scams:
http://gizmodo.com/5026969/beware-iphone-app-scams
| Quote: | | If you Google "iPhone apps," the first thing that comes up is iPhoneApps.org, a site selling a bundle of "top 10" iPhone applications for $25 using "safe PayPal." Friends, there's nothing safe about this site. It's a scam. The iTunes App Store is the exclusive distributor of official iPhone apps, period. Don't get your apps anywhere else. Tell your friends and family. If you're savvy enough to use Installer.app, this PSA is not for you, obviously. |
