Good Morning!
Did you think we’d sleep? really?
UPDATE: Direct download is here
Recommended method for updating is Sparkle (the internal updater inside PwnageTool) or using the Finder to decompress the files, don’t use command line tools to decompress as incorrect use will not preserve permissions, just double click the download above in the Finder.
Installer 4 Beta is included, it is added in any mode by default. The main installer package management interface within PwnageTool isn’t enabled yet, and will report that installer.app isn’t available, but the actual Installer.app package is added as a default option in both modes.
The latest Cydia is also enabled by default

8 More iPhone Tricks You Might Not Have Known
http://www.ismashphone.com/2008/08/iphone-tricks-1.html
re:
12 iPhone Tricks You Might Not Have Known
http://forums.trinituner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2771582#2771582
1. Double tap space bar for a period -
When typing on your iPhone, double tapping the space bar at the end of a sentence automatically enters a period followed by a space. No need to press "123" to get to the numbers and symbols page where the period typically resides. I use this trick daily and it heavily increases my typing speed (especially when texting).
2. Tap the bottom corner to navigate home screens
When on your home screen, try tapping the bottom right/left corner to switch between pages instead of swiping your finger accross the screen.
3. Take out your SIM card during backup and sync -
We've all experienced it. You're backing up and syncing your iPhone, and the hour long back up is nearly complete. Then all of a sudden you get a phone call, and the whole back up/sync is null and void.
To avoid this happening, simply start the backup/sync, then pull out your SIM card. Do not worry, this does not damage your phone at all. Put it back in once everything is complete. This way, your backup won't get interrupted.
This tip is also useful if you need to make a phone call while your iPhone is backing up/syncing. Since unlocking your phone cancels the process, just take out your SIM card, pop it in your old cell phone, and call away.
4. Move "dock" icons
You'd be surprised how often this tip is overlooked. The 4 icons located on the grey bar at the bottom of your iPhone - Phone, Mail, iPod, Safari - are movable, just like the rest of the icons. Just press and hold the icons, then drag them while they are shaking. Press the home button when you're done. You can put any 4 icons on your dock.
5. Automatically capitalize and add apostrophes
The iPhone automatically capitalizes certain words ("I" when you type "i"). It also automatically adds apostrophes ("I'm" when you type "Im").
6. Double tap a column on Safari to fit-to-page
When browsing the Internet on your iPhone's Safari browser, double tap any column, word, or picture to fit it's width to your iPhone's screen. This is extremely useful for reading blogs.
7. Manually select the icon image for a bookmarked webpage
This one's a little more confusing. When you are browsing a website on your iPhone's Safari browser and want to add its icon to your home screen, press the plus sign and select "Add to Home Screen".
The image in the icon, however, is a screenshot of the page you were on. So if you want the icon to look a specific way, zoom in on a particular item on the page. Whether you want the website's logo, or some picture on the page, simply zoom in on that part of the page before you press "Add to Home Screen".
8. Your iPhone's headphones have a multi-function button!
You'd be surprised how many people don't know that the iPhone's native headphones have a button on the microphone.
Just squeeze the microphone together, and the button gets pressed.
The buttons functions:
In call...
o Press once to answer a call
o Press twice to send the call to voicemail
o Press once to hang up a call
Out of call...
* Press once to activate iPod and play song
* Press once to pause song
* Press twice to skip to next song |

Best Buy to Sell iPhone 3G Nationwide
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1665
Best Buy is expected to announce as early as Wednesday plans to begin selling the iPhone 3G next month, according to an AppleInsider report.
People familiar with the matter say the electronics retailer has reached an agreement with Cupertino-based Apple that will see the iPhone sold at 970 Best Buy stores in addition to 16 Best Buy Mobile specialty outlets beginning September 7th.
Word of the move comes just one week after Best Buy announced that it has completed upgrading its Best Buy Mobile departments inside each of the company's U.S.-based stores -- a factor which may have been instrumental to the iPhone deal. |

Fire Rips Through Building at Apple HQ
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1666
Firefighters battled a blaze for more than three hours at Apple headquarters, according to an Msnbc report. The fire was first reported at 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and the fire was contained by 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Flames under an air conditioning unit continued to burn for an additional hour.
The Santa Clara County Fire Department said the three-alarm fire scorched the roof and the second level at one of the six buildings on the company's northern California campus in Cupertino. It was extinguished early Wednesday morning. No one was injured.
Senior Communications Dispatcher Rafael Salcedo said he fire was "not very big, but there is going to be a lot of smoke damage."

i have a couple coming in, (taking forever) but i would like to test them if you have them, or buy or whatever, PM or email me
@ Duane - i find it's better than palringo, and stays open longer in the background, and you can receive messages either via email or SMS when the app is closed, they will also be stored online for when you re-open the app..
they are upgrading their servers so the service kind of up and down. |

yeah I was readin the reviews - their server seems to be down all the time - as someone asked: can't they use a direct connection? Do they have to use an intermediary server?
They also stated that the "push" feature is already there in the app they are just waiting for Apple to allow it in the SDK update in August. So with that enabled it will always vibrate to let you know you got a message even long after the app is closed. |

I’ve been look and reviewing all kinds of apps for the 2008 Olympics. From web apps to App Store apps and I’ve finally found the winner! NBC has their own mobile version of their Olympics web page. It’s built for any mobile device but it works great on the iPhone & iPod Touch. The best feature of all is the video. Again, it works great on the iPhone & iPod Touch and it’s very up to date. There are TONS of features including: medal count, results, schedules, TV & online listings, video, photos, and a lot more. You can even sign up for SMS alerts for all sorts of things. I think the screenshots will tell a lot. |

iPhone 3G reception issues to be relieved by software update - report
http://www.appleinsider.com...ftware_update_report.html
A small percentage of iPhone 3G users who say their phones are plagued by poor 3G network reception may soon see their connectivity problems rectified by a software update, a new report claims.
Although there has been no admission by Apple or its broadband chip suppliers that any such issues exist with the 3G technology included in the new iPhone, a report by Nomura analyst Richard Windsor earlier this week set off a chain reaction of media reports filled with speculation on the matter.
For instance, a report by Sweden's engineering magazine Ny Teknik, covered by the Associated Press last night, cited 'unnamed experts' as saying the 'most likely cause' was a defective adjustments between the iPhone 3G's antenna and an amplifier that captures very weak signals from the antenna.
For his part, Windsor speculated that an "immature" chipset solution from Infineon could be to blame for the sporadic issues experienced by users across multiple continents. Yet another theory from iSuppli analyst Francis Sideco fingered any of a number of parts, "from the phone's antenna and amplifier and the radio frequency transceiver to the baseband that processes the digital signal and sends it to the speaker or screen."
The most recent report on the problem arrived Thursday courtesy of BusinessWeek's Peter Burrows, who cited "two well-placed sources" as saying the reception issues are tied to the iPhone's Infineon chip and will be addressed via an upcoming software update -- likely iPhone Software v2.1 -- rather than through a more disruptive step, such as a product recall.
The problem is said to to be affecting between 2 percent to 3 percent of iPhone traffic, which compares with a dropped-call rate of around 1 percent for all traffic on AT&T's U.S. network. "This is a problem, but it's not a catastrophe," one of Burrows' sources is quoted as saying.
Another source said: "Apple programmed the Infineon chip to demand a more powerful 3G signal than the iPhone really requires. So if too many people try to make a call or go on the Internet in a given area, some of the devices will decide there's insufficient power and switch to the slower network—even if there is enough 3G bandwidth available."
BusinessWeek added that the problems have been isolated to high density areas such as Boston, the San Francisco Bay area, and several locales overseas. The reason the problems are just now manifesting is due to the increasing number of activations with each additional day the iPhone 3G is on the market, the report claims.
"Two sources say Apple will likely issue a software update by the end of September—if not by the end of this month—to resolve the issues," Burrows wrote. "Apple and Infineon are currently testing the fix, which will be included in a broader update of the iPhone's software." |

SpoofApp now available via Cydia
http://www.appleiphoneschoo...-now-available-via-cydia/
Available In: Cydia
Price: Free
SpoofApp is an app that allows you to record calls, change your voice when making a call and change the display number when you make a call. There are a few changes with the new version of the application. When you open SpoofApp, it will look basically the same. The Recordings option on the lower menu bar has a new icon and the Free Minutes button in the upper right corner has been changed to a Help option. When you open the Settings you will notice that they have changed slightly. Besides having a new look, there is also the option to turn on/off the Keypad Sounds.
The Buy Minutes options has also improved. The cost of the minutes has not changed (prices listed below). You are also still able to get five free minutes.
The app itself functions the same. When you make a call, you get the same options as in the previous version…the ability to choose a voice and the ability to turn the recording on or off.
The Recording options looks much nicer in this version of SpoofApp. When you go into the Recording option, it looks the same but when you select a recording…the interface is much improved. The only new option is the ablity to delete the call and any recording of that call. You are still able to download all call recordings to your computer via spoofcard.com. |
