Can't wait |
isnt voice contol only available on the 3GS? |
Thats my understanding.
Although in my opinion all the 3G S features could be put on an iPhone 2G & 3G. Though it would be watered-down version more than likely, still better than nothing.
T-minus 2 mins for 3.0 (hopefully) |

No. Use only the firmware for the specified firmware for the device you have. |

Only ultrasn0w is going to take til Friday to get pushed out. All of our other tools should be out pretty soon after the official Apple release.
If you apply our jailbreak when it comes out, you can install ultrasn0w anytime after that. You obviously won’t have cell service in the meantime, though.
This may in fact be directly applicable to the iPhone 3GS if it can be jailbroken, because it runs the same baseband version. Whether or not it can be jailbroken is a big question right now!
If you’re on Twitter, please give @Oranav a pat on the back. He could have revealed the crash he found to Apple and maybe gotten quite an incentive in return. Instead, he told us about it so that we could work it into an injection vector for the soft unlock. |

Below is the basic information about how jailbreaking and unlocking will work on the 3.0 firmware for the 1st gen iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3G S.
Important Note: Upgrading to firmware 3.0 will break your current jailbreak and unlock (see below for more specific information). Also, many of the current jailbroke applications do not work on firmware 3.0.
1st Gen iPhone’s:
You can upgrade to the 3.0 firmware however, you will lose your current jailbreak and your unlock. You will be able to jailbreak as soon as the Dev-Team released the jailbreak which will hopefully be some time today. You will also be able to unlock your iPhone when ultrasn0w is released on Friday. So, if you upgrade to 3.0, you will not be able to unlock your iPhone until Friday. yellowsn0w will not work on the 3.0 firmware. Remember, even once the jailbreak is out, not many of the current jailbroke applications work on firmware 3.0.
Note: The following features of the 3.0 firmware will not work on a 1st Gen iPhone:
• Send and receive photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS
• Internet Tethering over USB and Bluetooth
• Stereo Bluetooth
iPhone 3G (2nd Gen iPhones):
You can also upgrade to firmware 3.0 however, you will also lose your jailbreak and your unlock. You will be able to jailbreak as soon as the Dev-Team released the jailbreak (hopefully today). You will also be able to to unlock your iPhone 3G, on the 3.0 firmware, when ultrasn0w is released on Friday. yellowsn0w will not work on the 3.0 firmware. Remember, even once the jailbreak is out, not many of the current jailbroke applications work on firmware 3.0.
iPhone 3G S:
We do not know much about this yet, we will know more about jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone 3G S on Friday when it is released. |
