T&T sends powerful Drag Racing Team to Antigua

On Wednesday, a team of 11 T&T Drag Racers took the first step in their journey to what can possibly be termed the largest Drag Racing Event in the Caribbean. The team packed their cars into 5 containers as they set off on their journey to participate in the Invasion Of the Imports III carded for 22nd to 24th June 2007 in Antigua.

Countries committed to participate in this Event are:
• Grenada • St. Lucia • Puerto Rico
• Tortola • St. Croix • St. Kitts
• St. Thomas • St. Maarten• St. Kitts

Heading the team with cars running in the fastest category are seasoned campaigners Michael Douglas with his Methanol-powered V8 Rail, and Gordon Rooks with his Tweety-2 V8 Laurel, both these competitors comfortably posting times in the 8-seconds category. Also running with his V8 Altered-Rail is the evergreen Holister “Flambeau” Edwards, and Richard ”Richie Rich” Lawrence with his V8 Mitsubishi Magna; and these two racers are looking to battle all-comers in the 9-seconds bracket.

Christian Tam with his very-powerful Nissan AWD Twin-Turbo Skyline, has shown his ability in running in the 10-seconds Class and he will be ably supported by Oswald Stoute in his immaculate 2nd Gen Mazda Turbo. Adesley Searles with his SR20 Turbo-powered Mitsubishi Lancer will be holding the fort in the 11 seconds Class.

Making a welcome return to the Race Track is Ajamal Mustapha, more recently associated with driving his Nissan B13 in Circuit Racing. He will be piloting the original Tweety 1 V8 Laurel This machine should be a comfortable performer in 12 seconds and he will be supported by Championship-winner Rajesh Ramjattan with his 2800cc 6-cylinder Corolla KE30.

Top female Driver and multiple FCB Award nominee Erica Jobity-Dinnoo, will be seeking to keep the T&T flag flying high with her Castrol-backed Toyota Turbo Starlet, recently rebuilt with upgraded equipment that should see her battling against the best of the foreigners in the 13 seconds Class. Erica will be coaching the youthful Genevieve Singh who will be making her first overseas jaunt with her Turbo Mitsubishi Mirage reputed to be putting out over 200BHP in recent Dyno testing. This machine should see her running comfortably in the 14 seconds bracket, thus giving the T&T team capable performers in all brackets from 8 seconds right up to 14 seconds.

The team will be leaving for competition in Antigua on the morning of the 22nd June, when some 50 other T&T supporters will be joining them to lend support for this International Drag Racing extravaganza.

so much big racers right here and the ppl with power wont even build a small track Crying or Very sad

proably this would spread some light into our motorsport situation (concerning a track) as having our racers venture to other caribbean countries to race and hopefullt cut real a$$...
