Advantages of SR20 over the GA16
.It's faster
.A more powerful engine to be reckoned with
.With a few bolt on mods, it can beat other 2.0L engines eg Mazda MZR 2.0 etc
.When Turboed, a higher HP rating can be achieved than the GA16 Turboed

Disadvantages of SR20 over the GA16
.Burns more gas
.Parts are more costly
.Higher maintenance cost

And the list goes on. I would make my pick base on my financial budget, meaning that if I have the money needed to maintain the SR20 for it's daily use...then I would pick the SR20.
If not, then I would choose the GA16.

But the both of them are great engines.

SR20 is actually really really good on Gas. I'm surprised actually. My driving is a combination of inner city and highyway driving. With the 5 speed transmission it shifts smooth and drives well.

I do think that your intended chassis would play a big part also.
