Wanted to start this thread for some time now. From what I can remember when the question was last brought up, it was argued that the Mazda MX 5 Miata was probably the best.

In light of recent models on the market, what's the opinion from some of the more experienced drivers?

Is the Civic hatchback still considered a good start?

If I had my choice, I'd choose a Civic hatch as well (only for Dex though Laughing ). Just for the wide range of suspension and engine mods available.

Upgrading the suspension on the Primera aint cheap Sad .

i drove that del sol on sunday on its last run of the day, and its feels better than my civic hatch on a Tien Setup, no body roll a strong second gear, i wanted to push it harder but time didnt allow, if its not sold by the nex dex ask the owner for a ride in it he very cool.

hmmmm...good thread here Rudi ..the question came to my mind after last dex...

The swift sport to me seems like the best dex car ...
it light...and with a good suspension and some good tyres, that may become very competitive....imagine if that came 4wd with a powerfull engine!!

other than that you can harass Ryan P and see if he wanna sell you the wrx ....

^I ain't ready to drive ah beast like dat!...... Sad

But Reyos, don't be fooled eh, that Swift Sport ain't so light as it looks. Its listed kerb weight is 2300lbs. My CK lancer weighs just as much!..... Shocked

The Iggy is much lighter, about 200lbs less, but not as powerful. PTW ratio, the Iggy and the Swift is the same.

Q: What class do you want to run in?

Me, I wanted to start off in ES, gain the confidence in the car and then move up.

My suggestion would be to start off with a vehicle as close to the top of the PWR as possible and then as your skill level grows, do suspension mods and then increase the power and move up to the next class.

the Miata is still one of the best cars for dex....while not popular here, they offer brilliant value for money in the US, which means tons of upgrades are available

On a budget, a B13 with the right suspension mods can be competitive, so can a RWD GSR lancer
...and yes, Civic hatches have more than proven their worth at dex

the crx is another good option but i have my doubts with the present power plant and the handling due to the weight as well as traction issues

might handle and do a faster time with a b16a
