I am upgrading from 15" rims to a set of 17" rims on my vehicle, Car is a b12 has an sr20 in it, i am also putting some coilover springs on it. Now my problem here is i won't be able to guage the difference because all of this is being done after the car paints(and it been by the painter a while so i cah really remember how it performs down to a T..........but it did good enough) My question is this how would the rim size affect it's overall performance my main concern is cornering and well with the coilovers i'll just hav to wait and see. But any general rules of thumb or advice on this?

How does this affect braking?

I believe i read somewhere that when u go bigger rims u loose a little accel and gain on the top end side due to the revolutions somethin somethin.

can anyone shed some light on this please

thanks Smile

when you go up in rim size you need to come down in aspect ratio

basically if you go up 2" in rim size you need to come down 2" in tyre side wall height to try and keep the overall dia as close to the original wheel/tyre combo as possible

if you try and keep the new combo close to the same height as the originals, it should stop and accelerate the same, it will also keep you speedo reading correct

don't use the sleeve type coilovers please and the rim should b 17X7 *subject to correction*

the reason i said 17X7 is that the 7.5 will touch the shock barrel.i have OZ 15's on currently and it's 7.my finger cannot fit between the rim and the shock barrel Shocked

yea i done scope yuh tuner ride lol, But the person i bought it from put them on his 12 and he said cornering YUH ORN!, but it was a lil too bouncy for him, i put on 2 in the back and had some quick runs to make when i was at the painter, it didn't feel that bad, BALANCE WAS WAYYYYY OFF though stiff in d back not so stiff in d front.........not good Laughing I don't think they will be as bad as ppl make them out to be, or i already make up my mind to sacrifice that for some good cornering.........Is this upgrade to 17" i studyin

now the problem with the coilovers

did they have any spring rating or they are progresive

the cheap stuff tend to be stiff and mess you up

also depending what u bought

the springs for the front would not be correct for the SR20 on the car

also get a sway bar for the front and rear

BTW what did u do for the braking system

Ok the sr20 eh now gone in the car eh, i eh want ppl to get the misconception, i had the engine in there over 1 year and a half now, and thinkin back now i eh really get no detials on spring rate etc etc, I already have the stabilizer bar in front a nice thick one that did a major improvement, and in terms of brakes, B13 Beast model in front and B12 rear disc brakes in the back. When i get it back i goin an change d master cyclinder rubbers as well as all the general fluids, Oil Brakes etc etc
